Havering Police - Working For Safer Neighbourhoods

HAVERING OFFICERS TRACK STOLEN IPHONE

Police in Havering recently received an emergency call from a victim of a robbery in Upminster. The 15 year old victim had suffered a theft of his Apple iphone.

Responding quickly to the call for help, PCs Nicholas Tunge and Peter Stallard arrived on scene. On questioning the victim, the officers discovered that he had recently downloaded an application called "locate my iphone app". Using their own Apple iphone, the officers logged into the system and tracked the stolen phone to an address in Dagenham where two suspects were identified and arrested.

A 17 year old youth and a 19 year old man have been charged with robbery and will appear at Basildon Crown Court in March.

Insp. Cowley, the officers’ Duty Officer, said "This was a fantastic piece of policing using the very latest modern technology. The victim had suffered a nasty crime but was pleased with the service that my officers provided. I am immensely proud of their work."
