Mid Week Newsletter

Dear Parents and Carers,

Parent Council: Thursday 16th October 2pm
On Thursday we have the first parent council meeting of the year. We would like to share with you some ideas about the new curriculum, give you an update on changes to how we measure progress for your children and ask for ideas on how we can support you. In addition some parents will be feeding back their findings from the survey done with pupils.

All parents are welcome to attend – it is not a ‘members only club’. The more views and ideas we get the better and you get the chance to directly influence how we further improve your child’s school. We look forward to seeing you on Thursday afternoon – look out for more details on the blog!

We Scare Hunger: Friday 17th October
On Friday 17th we are holding a food drive in school to support the local foodbank. This is part of the Free The Children ‘We Scare Hunger’ campaign. With your help we can help to feed people in genuine need, build a stronger neighbourhood and contribute to stopping hunger before it strikes.

On Friday we are asking all pupils to wear their wellies to school and bring in an item of long life food:
UHT milk, fruit juice, soup, pasta, tinned tomatoes, cereals, instant mash, tinned meat/fish & jam

There will be prizes for the class that donates the most food. Keep an eye on the blog for more updates!

School Nurse:
On Friday 17th there will be a drop in for the school Nurse from 8.45am – 9.30am. The surgery will allow you the opportunity to discuss any concerns you have regarding your child’s health and wellbeing.

Poppy Appeal:
This year we have widened the range of ways in which children can support the Poppy Appeal for the Royal British Legion. Have a look at the blog for the more detailed list of items for sale; however they will be able to choose from: erasers, hair clips, wrist bands, rulers, pencils, bookmarks, bugs, rulers and reflective tags. There will also be the chance to buy the more traditional poppy.

Prices are all 50p (apart from the ruler and bracelet which are £1 each). All donations will be welcome. Items will be on sale from tomorrow – Wednesday 15th October.
