Weekly Newsletter - Friday 17th March, 2023

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,

University of Broadford
We are sadly coming to the end of our Broadford University courses and what a great 10 weeks we have had. I have seen so many happy, smiling children, bursting to tell me all about the wonderful things they have been learning at their University of Broadford sessions. The children have all shown great resilience and reciprocity while working through their courses and we couldn't be prouder of how much they have all achieved.
We would now like to invite you in to celebrate your child’s achievements. The dates and start times for each course are as follows. This year the University of Broadford project included pupils from years 3-6.
Monday 27th March - 2pm Start
Creative Cards, Chess, Sock Cats

Tuesday 28th March - 2pm Start
I'm a Pupil Get Me Out Of Here, Dance, Get Fit Fridays, Show Stoppers

Wednesday 29th March - 2pm Start
Around The World In a Term, Fashionistas, Chromebook Crew, Lyrical Masters

Thursday 30th March - 2pm Start
Creative Writing, Cracking Clay, Comfy Cushions, Video Productions
We ask that  parents/carers wait at the lower gate on Faringdon Avenue, by the waiting area , a member of staff will be there to escort you in at the start time.
We look forward to welcoming you into school for our wonderful graduations.

Summer Term After School Club Applications

Applications for the Easter School Holiday Meal Scheme to open Wednesday 8 March

Applications for the Easter School Holiday Meal Scheme will officially open from Wednesday 8 March 9am and will close on Wednesday 15 March at 5pm. The scheme allows eligible families to apply for £30 per child to purchase food to replace the meals their child would have received during the school day. Helping us ensure no child goes hungry during the school holiday.
Details about the scheme and application form when live will be available on the Council’s website.
Your family may be eligible for the Easter School Holiday Meal Scheme.
If your circumstances have changed or you have another child start school in the current academic year that you haven’t yet made an application for, please do be sure to check the new claims criteria on the Havering council website to see if you are eligible.

HAF Easter Program
We are thrilled to be able to offer the Sports Cool Holiday Club again this Easter. Please see the attached flyer for details.
To be eligible for these funded sessions, children MUST be in receipt of BENEFIT RELATED Free School Meals (BRFSM). You can check your eligibility or apply for benefit related free school meals via this page Free School Meals Criteria and Application Link
As always, places are limited and this is always a very popular activity for the children. So be quick to ensure you do not miss out

Easter
It is only a few weeks till we finish for the Easter break. I know that it feels like we have only returned from the Christmas break! However, to mark the occasion all pupils will be taking part in an easter egg hunt during the week beginning 27th March and we will be hosting Broadford’s Easter parade on Friday 31st March. We are inviting all pupils to take part in designing, making and wearing with pride an Easter bonnet/hat. It is £1 to enter the competition and this will contribute towards our fundraising total this year.
The bonnet/ hat could be made from card, paper, or use a baseball cap/sunhat/wooly hat as a base. Then allow your child to decide what they would like on their hat, it could be flowers, signs of new life such as Lambs, chicks and chocolate eggs. It can be anything linked to Easter.
We can’t wait to see all of the creations in school on Friday 31st March. Happy crafting!

Fundraising
As you are aware we are holding a summer fete on Saturday 8th July. However, we need your help! We are looking for volunteers to help run stalls. If you can spare 30 mins or an hour we would very much appreciate your time.
Many thanks.
