We are now getting close to the path being completed. Tomorrow we are expecting almost 100 tonnes of cockle shells to form the main surface of the path. The raised beds and flower circles will go in next week. To celebrate the completion of the Adventure Trail, we will be asking Dame Angela Watkinson to cut the ribbon when she visits on the 9th May.
However the path is still going to develop over the next year. Thames Chase Conservation Volunteers have been in to look at creating a nature area. Installing 100 metres of hedgerows, with a dipping pond and wildflower garden will increase the habitats for wildlife.
Trim trail features, slides and clamber nets are also due to be added so that the route offers physical activities and plenty of outdoor learning opportunities. By bringing the field area into use all year round the children will really benefit.
