Welcome Back!

We were all delighted to welcome the children back last week. The school is horribly empty and soulless without them filling the classrooms corridors and playground! It has been great to catch up on their holiday stories: exploring museums, visiting sites of interest, working on their tan, splashing in the pool, travelling overseas and spending time with family! On a sad note we were sorry to hear of some children and families who have suffered accidents during the Summer, but we have been assured that they are on their way to a speedy recovery and will be rejoining us soon.

For our established parents you already know that we accept only the best at Broadford. For the last three years we have been in the top 1% of schools in the country for performance and our school has topped the league tables in Havering. Last year we were shortlisted for the Primary School of the Year award by the TES and our latest set of SATs results are set to be our best ever. We achieve this by working together with our families and emphasizing some key values.

Pupils are expected to:
1. Turn up every day on time
2. Do their best in every lesson
3. Be kind and polite to everyone that they meet

Parents are expected to:
1. Ensure that their child at school every day, on time
a. Parents will make sure the child has had a healthy breakfast and is warmly dressed in clean uniform
b. They will have what they need for their school day
c. That the children have had a calm, orderly start to the morning so they arrive in school ready to learn

2. Parents will have high expectations for their children
a. Support their learning at home and develop their interests
b. Read to them regularly
c. Foster in them an understanding of the value of education and celebrate their achievements

3. Parents will model politeness and kindness to others
a. Establish clear routines and expectations at home so that boundaries are clear
b. Speak to other adults and the child in a polite and kind way
c. Give specific praise when the child achieves in school or at home

We will ensure that our staff are professional, approachable and focused on making sure that every child in their care achieves their full potential. Working together we can continue to deliver outstanding results for our pupils so that they have every chance of going on to succeed at the next stage of their education.
