Weekly Newsletter - Friday 17th November

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

Friendship and Kindness Week 2023

This week is friendship and kindness week in school. The children have had friendship assemblies and participated in a range of activities across the week.
All pupils have read, with their teachers, understood and signed a copy of the anti-bullying contract in school. This will also be sent home for you to keep and read with your child.
After the success of our ‘One Kind Word’ campaign last year, we are encouraging the pupils to celebrate themselves and their uniqueness through positive affirmations. November is gratitude month and thinking about what we are grateful for helps us to feel happy and positive. Focusing on friends, special skills, pets, fun places we can go, and things that we like to do. Grateful thoughts come more easily when you practice each day. In assembly this week we practice our positive affirmation which was;

I like myself. I am thankful for the things that make me, me!

We will share our positive affirmations with you each month. Maybe you could practice these at home with the pupils.

Christmas Fayre
We are hosting our first Christmas Fayre after school on Friday 1st December, 2023 between 3.30pm - 5.30 pm straight after school.
We really appreciate all of your donations. If you would like to book a Father Christmas visit please send your money to the school office in an envelope with your child’s name clearly written on the front. Slips to request a Father Christmas visit can be collected at the school office.
Raffle tickets will be on sale from Monday at the end of the day via the school office. We have a variety of prizes once again from an alcohol hamper, Christmas hampers to vouchers for pie and mash and even a very large Christmas Elf! Tickets are priced at £3 for 1 strip and 2 strips for £5.

Donations
We would like donations of any socks, tights or underwear that your children have grown out of home to help us when we need to change pupils in school. If your child has been changed into spare clothes at school please return them asap.
Many thanks in advance for all of your co-operation.

Reception Admissions September 2024

If your child is looking to join our school in Reception 2024, it is vital that your application is completed by 15th January 2024 or it is likely you miss out. Last year we had over 220 applications for just 90 places. Even with a 3 form intake, we have more expressions of interest than we have places – YOU MUST APPLY! Attending our Nursery will have no impact on your application. Many parents mistakenly believe that a place in the Nursery = a place in Reception… it doesn’t!
Please see the London Borough of Havering website for further information on how to apply.

Christmas Concerts

We are thrilled to be able to invite parents and carers into school during December for the Christmas celebrations. To try and keep numbers to a minimum each child will be allocated two tickets only. This information will be sent out to parents next week.
Please see below the dates for all of our Christmas events throughout December.
