Fact Hunters: Batman, monsters & whales

This week we have had a tremendous number of interesting facts being shared by the children. Congratulations to the following children who have amazed us with their ability to hunt out interesting snippets of information:

William Edwards
Did you know that Batman (who is a fictional character) was created by artist Bob Kane and writer Bill Finger, and first appeared in Detective Comics #27 (May 1939).

Jacob Owsley
Reaching between 40 and 50 feet in length, a humpback whale can weigh up to 48 tons!

Razvan Gabreanu
Some people believe that the Loch Ness monster might be a dinosaur. However the Loch is only about 10,000 years old, and plesiosaurs went extinct 65 million years ago!

Riley Newall
It is estimated that the Earth has an equatorial speed of 465.1 m/s, 1,674.4 km/h or 1,040.4 mi/h. That is extremely fast… it is a wonder we don’t get dizzy!
