Farm Visit for EYFS & KS1

This week we had a visit from the Wellgate Community Farm and their animals. Guinea pigs, ponies, rabbits, goats, sheep and turkeys: all crammed onto the field to provide the children with a great variety of animals to see.

Your children were able to learn about:

  • how to care for the animals
  • what a day is like on the farm: feeding, cleaning and keeping the farm in good shape
  • where our food comes from - many were surprised at the origin of their Christmas dinner!
We were very impressed with the grass cutting skills of their pony. If we employed him full time he would keep the field in great shape.

"I can't believe how soft the sheep was, I loved stroking him." Yemi - Y2
"Working on a farm would be great fun, but I don't want to get up too early!" Liam - Y1
"Those animals were very smelly!" Charlie - YR
