Freddie's Dinosaur News

Freddie was very excited to hear of some news from China this week. Scientists have found the remains of a new type of tyrannosaur dinosaur on a Chinese construction site!

The dinosaur nicknamed Pinocchio rex, had a very long face, a row of horns on the top of its head and a lighter more agile body.

Dug up by scientists, from Edinburgh University, it is thought that the creature lived 66 million years ago. Freddie explained that it is now thought that there were lots of different types of tyrannosaur lived in Asia, hunting different prey.

Incredibly the snout of the Pinocchio was 35% longer than any other animal of its size - hence its name.

Freddie was also able to point out that the newly discovered dinosaur was much smaller and lighter than the T rex at about 9 ft tall.

Thank you for the dinosaur update Freddie. No doubt there will be many other pupils who will be delighted to hear this news.
