Reading Challenge Champions!
Congratulations to all the 20 children who successfully completed the Summer 'Circus Skills' Reading Challenge. Over the course of the six week holiday the children had to read six books. Once they had completed each title they had to visit their local library to tell them about it. Each of the children received a medal and certificate to mark their achievement. In addition to this one lucky pupil won a free game of bowling - for 4 people - at the Brewery!

Attendance Score Achievement!
Congratulations to all of our pupils, parents and carers for the effort made last week 12th - 16th September. We have a school target of 95% which we managed to exceed with a score of 97.54%... well done! Ultimately we would like to set a more ambitious target, and this kind of score shows that we are easily capable of it.

Year 5 & 6 Visit To Imperial War Museum
The Year 5 & 6 pupils have boarded the bus to make the journey home. Although they have been blitzed, bombed and sat in a damp, dark air raid shelter it sounds like they've had a great time!
Year 5 & 6 Visit To Imperial War Museum
This morning the Year 5 & 6 children set off at the early hour of 8.20am. Despite the early start, they encountered quite a lot of traffic as they journeyed by coach across London. All 71 children are now signed in at the museum and are about to commence their activities. First up is a wartime stories session followed by the Blitz Experience. Without a doubt it will be a day they'll remember and one that adds a great deal to their understanding of what life was like in World War 2!
Improving Communication With ICT
Broadford Primary is leading the way in developing communication systems for pupils, parents, staff and Governors. Our practice of using social media to help build links with parents and publicise the school is serving as a model to others. Have a look at the recent Local Authority blog on how Broadford is moving forward.: Havering ICT Blog.

Classes full at Broadford!
The number of children on roll has been steadily increasing since last year. We are delighted to announce that our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 classes are now full! Spaces across the rest of the school are also limited so prospective parents are advised to approach the school and Local Authority quickly. Once we move into the state of the art new building in late October we expect those places to be filled. Already this term Years 1,2, 5 and 6 have been out on trips. The children have enjoyed a theatre workshop and are looking ahead to the visit of the Bug Man next week. Extra curricular clubs are also taking shape now with activities for Reception up to Year 6. Broadford Primary is the place to be.

Year 1 & 2 Visit To Barleylands
The Year 1 & 2 children have safely arrived at Barleylands and are beginning their exploration of the site. Activities planned include: making a healthy snack, feeding the animals and clambering over the play equipment. Now that the rain has stopped they should have a lovely day.
We will post again when they are leaving.

Fantasy Football Competition
Broadford Primary is excited to announce its participation in this years Schools' Fantasy League. Open to pupils, staff and parents the competition offers the chance of glory, certificates, medals and trophies. Could you be the next Alex Ferguson? Do you groan with frustration at Wenger's transfer policy? Would you be able to guide West Ham back to the promised land if you were just given the chance? Well this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.

Firebird Flies Into Broadford!
Last Thursday the children from Year 1 -6 were entertained by the Multi Story Theatre company. With a range of innovative props and mesmerising acting, the pupils were transported to Russia where the Land of Plenty is ruled by a kindly Czar. From the story - which features a heroic prince - the children and teachers have drawn inspiration to complete a variety of activities. Collages of firebirds, role play and story writing: these are just some of the tasks they have used to extend the story in class. Following the tremendous feedback from pupils and staff the Theatre group will be returning next term... we can't wait!
