Sponsored Charity Event - The Lennox Children’s Cancer Charity

Charity Event for The Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund

As sports day will look very different this year we have decided to plan something very different. Instead of the traditional sports day activities this year all pupils will have the opportunity to participate in a huge obstacle course. This activity will push the pupils physical and mental limits without the pressure of competition. They will climb in, out & over a series obstacles, scramble under cargo nets, crawl through tyres and tunnels, over walls and monkey bars as well as running across the open field. There may be some water involved as well! There will be no pressure on the pupils to complete the obstacles, we want the pupils to grow in confidence from this experience. Team-work is actively encouraged, it is not all about winning, helping each other achieve is just as important.

This will be our sponsored event for the summer term and there is a sponsorship form attached to this letter so that every child can start to collect sponsorship. All of the monies raised will go towards our chosen charity which is The Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.

This is planned for the week beginning 12th July and each year group will have specific days as follows;

Monday 12th July

Nursery and reception pupils

Tuesday 13th July

Year 1 & 2 pupils

Wednesday 14th July

Year 3 & 4 pupils

Thursday 15th July

Year 5 & 6 pupils

Pupils can wear their PE kit on their chosen day and please send in their sponsor money in a named envelope on the day of their obstacle run.

Unfortunately, due to current guidance and arrangements we are unable to invite parents into school to share this event with us but there will be plenty of coverage via the school blog (accessed via the school website), Facebook, Youtube and Instagram.

TT Rockstars - London Rocks!

We are very excited to be celebrating Maths Week London by participating in TT Rock Stars London Rocks competition! This is exclusive to schools in London and will run from Monday 28th June 2021 to the Friday 2nd July 2021!

They are on a mission to find the most dedicated TTRS school, classes and pupils in Greater London and, as well as certificates for the top performers, there are prizes to be won!

Times tables are the foundation of mathematics and it is essential for all children to know their times tables up to 12 x 12 by the end of year 4. We strongly believe that TT Rock Stars makes practising them a lot more fun and the evidence shows how effective it is at improving children's accuracy and speed.

Please be reminded that all children should be practising their times tables for at least 15 minutes every evening at home.

We can't wait to see who the top earners will be - perhaps one of our wonderful pupils will be a top scorer across the whole of Greater London!

Only answers given between the hours of 07:00 BST to 19:00 BST each day within the Competition Period will count towards the competition. Answers given before 07:00 BST or after 19:00 BST will NOT count.

Weekly Newsletter - Friday 18th June

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Summer Events

After the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday and from the advice of the local authority, we unfortunately will not be able to invite parents on to the school site for summer term events. We will be using our social media platforms (school blog, website, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram) to share the sporting, leavers and transition activities with you. The parents drop in that usually happens after you have received your child’s report will continue via telephone conversations. We are hoping to be able to continue with a ‘meet the new teacher’ event as long as we can do so inline with the current guidance. We are very much hoping that we will be able to get back to our usual way of working as soon as possible.

This is planned for the week beginning 12th July, specific days and details will be sent in a separate letter.

Summer Sun

Summer has, eventually arrived and I hope that you are now all enjoying the warmer weather. I would like to ask all parents to ensure that children have sun protection applied before they arrive at school. . It is also recommended that children bring caps/hats into school to wear during outdoor times. We will ensure that pupils have access to plenty of water throughout the day to keep them fully hydrated. Thank you for your support and co-operation in this matter.

Euros 2021

Just for fun this half term, we are going to hold an inter-class draw for the Euros 2021. The classes will follow the progress of their team throughout the competition and learn a little bit about the country at the same time. We will be holding a Euros 2021 day on Monday 21st June when the children can wear the colours of their countries.  All pupils are aware of their countries and will know what colours they should be wearing to school on Monday. On this occasion we will not be asking for a voluntary donation, this is just for fun.

Transition
This week the children have been thinking about the answers to the questions from the pupils who are moving up into their year group. They are going to work collaboratively to provide detailed explanations and then elect a spokesperson. It will be the elected spokespersons job to visit the year group below and impart all of the knowledge they have to prepare the pupils for when they move up. I know the children can’t wait to hear all of the exciting things that they will be getting up to next year!
