IMPORTANT - Breakfast Club arrangements for September 2021

Dear Parent / Carer

The breakfast club at Broadford offers  a safe and welcoming start to our children’s day.  We  provide a relaxed environment where the children can eat and socialise with their friends. A nutritious breakfast will be served, consisting of a choice of healthy cereals, toast with a variety of toppings, fruit, yoghurts and fruit juices, milk and hot chocolate to drink.

Breakfast Club start time:       Daily (Monday to Friday) at 7.45 for children in years R to 6

Cost:                                    £1.55 per day

In order for your child to attend the Breakfast Club place you will need to book and pay for the sessions you require in advance via your sQuid account. You must book and pay for the sessions you require by 15.00 the day before your child is to attend at the very latest. You may pre book and pay for future sessions at any time.  We will be unable to accept children into Breakfast Club if you have not paid in advance

Please note that due to staffing arrangements and so that the club operates with a correct ratio of adults to children, breakfast club places are limited and  all breakfast club bookings are non refundable and may not be re assigned to an alternative date.  For assistance with setting up your sQuid account and/or booking the Breakfast Club sessions, please contact Mrs West in the main school office (01708 342880 or office@broadford.havering.sch.uk) and she will be happy to help.

As you may already know, there is now no expectation for children to be kept in bubbles. Therefore class and year group bubbles will no longer exist.

Bringing Items into School
Children should continue to bring a named water bottle into school.
Children do not need to bring pencil cases into school. All resources will be provided by the school.

Uniform
All pupils are expected to return to school in full school uniform. PE days will be communicated with you by class teachers via the curriculum newsletter in the first week of term. Following feedback and the success of last year, we ask that on these days the children come to school in full and correct school PE kit.
If you are eligible for a school uniform voucher, please contact the school office on Wednesday 1st September after 10.30am.

Breakfast Club
The doors will open for breakfast club on Thursday 2nd September at 7.45 am. Please see the separate communication attached regarding how to book breakfast club places for pupils.

School Dinners and sQuid
A reminder to parents of children in Year 3 that School Dinners are no longer free, as the Universal Free School Meals program only includes children up to Year 2.
Children in Year 3 will either:

  • be entitled to Free School Meals (due to family income, meaning children are eligible for Pupil Premium Funding);
  • pay for school meals via Squid;
  • have packed lunches.
If your child is not eligible for free school meals, please ensure that their sQuid account is topped up at the start of the term.

Keeping Covid Safe
A reminder that children should not attend school if they are showing symptoms of Covid-19 (high temperature, a new continuous cough, loss of or change to taste or smell). If your child does have symptoms a PCR test must be taken before they can return to school (as long as it is negative). Should your child receive a positive test they will need to isolate, as was the case previously.
Parents and families are still able to engage in the free lateral flow testing program to ensure that any cases are found and isolated as soon as possible.

Covid Control Measures
It is good to be able to return to some kind of normality, however please be assured that we still have measure in place to reduce the risk of spreading the virus. We will continue to ensure that all pupils continue with regular and thorough hand washing. Cleaning regimes will continue to be regular and robust. All areas will be adequately ventilated and all members of our community must continue to following government guidance for test, track and trace.
We very much appreciated your support in this matter for the safety of all pupils, staff and parents.

We will continue to follow Department for Education guidance and control measures and we will take advice from the DfE, Havering local authority and Public Health England if there are any positive cases within our community. As you can imagine, this guidance is subject to change and will be reviewed again on a regular basis.
Thank you for working with us – we really do appreciate everything you do to support us.

I know that all staff are very much looking forward to welcoming all pupils back to school next week and we are most definitely looking forward to a great year ahead. Have wonderful bank holiday weekend.

Kind regards,

Mrs L Nicholls
Headteacher.

Obstacle Race in Aid of The Lennox Children's Cancer Fund

I am thrilled to announce the total of our fundraising for the summer term. We decided to fund raise for the Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund who provide support for families who have children who are receiving care and treatment for Cancer. As we have two families facing these challenges at the moment we wanted to support a charity who could offer some support and assistance to our own children.

The non school uniform days raised - £309.35
Mr Squibb and his company  JFF Security and Solutions LTD donated - £500

Sponsorship money from the obstacle race - £5992.42

Which brings our grand total to

£6801.67

Lisa Green from LCCF came into school to accept a cheque and was overwhelmed by the final total. Thank you all so very much for your support and generosity.
