Abba Voyage

A wave of excitement swept through the choir on Wednesday as they were lucky enough to travel to London for the groundbreaking Abba Voyage concert. Arriving at the purpose-built ABBA Arena was an experience in itself, and for many of our pupils, it represented their first thrilling opportunity to witness a large-scale concert production.

From the opening notes, the entire audience was mesmerised. The performance was a breathtaking fusion of technology and artistry, with the famous digital 'Abbatars' appearing astonishingly lifelike on stage, backed by a phenomenal live band. The pupils and accompanying adults thoroughly enjoyed the immersive experience, their voices joining a chorus of thousands to sing along to beloved classics like "Dancing Queen," "Mamma Mia," and "Waterloo." The stunning visual display, complete with spectacular lighting and intricate effects, created a magical atmosphere that will not be soon forgotten. It was a truly joyous and memorable outing that provided wonderful inspiration for our young musicians.

KS2 Choir - Register your interest for the Young Voices Concert

Dear parent/carer, 

Pupils in the current years 3,4,5 are invited to register for the KS2 choir for September 2023. Places for the choir are limited. 

The choir sessions will take place every Tuesday after school from 3.15pm - 4.15pm. In September rehearsals will start on Tuesday 19th September. 

I would like to ask that if pupils sign up that they make a commitment to attend the rehearsals every week. We are working towards the Young Voices concert which is on Thursday 19th January 2024. For those of you who have attended Young Voices previously there is a lot of material to learn to ensure that we are concert ready. 

Please complete the attached google form by Thursday 20th July so that we can let you know if your child has been allocated a place before we finish for the summer break. 

Further information regarding tickets and t-shirts will be sent once choir places have been confirmed.

Calling KS1 & KS2 Choir Members!

Dear parents & carers,

As you will be aware we are hosting our school summer fete on Saturday 8th July. We would like the school choirs to perform during the afternoon to provide some entertainment for our guests.

KS1 Choir - 1.15 pm (arrive at 1.10 pm)

KS2 Choir - 1.45 pm (arrive at 1.40 pm)

Each choir will perform for a short amount of time and present what they have been working on during the course of this academic year.

If you are able to bring your child along on the day to join in please complete the google form below so we are aware of how many pupils we will be expecting.

Years 1,2 & 3 sing the little green frog!

Throughout the autumn term the years 1,2&3 choir have been meeting and singing at the top of their voices! We have also learned a few dance moves along the way. Here is the children's fantastic rendition of the little green frog song. 

We hope you enjoy listening to it as much as we enjoy singing it!

Key Stage 2 Choir - LFPA Fete

I am delighted to announce that Broadford Primary’s Key Stage 2 choir have been invited to perform at the LFPA Summer Fete on Saturday 30th June. The choir will be joined by the Key Stage 2 choir at Mead and will be sharing a small selection of the songs that they sang at the Havering Junior Music Festival.

This is another great opportunity for the children to share all of the hard work they have been doing in choir rehearsals. Parents are welcome to attend the fete and we would love to see as many parents there as possible.

The children will be performing at 12:00pm so please could they be dropped off at 11:45am so that they are ready to start promptly.

Key Stage 2 Choir - Junior Havering Music Festival

I am delighted to announce that the Key Stage 2 choir will be performing at the Havering Music Festival on Monday 18^th June at 7.00pm at Queen's Theatre, Hornchurch. 

The children will be required to arrive at the theatre by 6.30pm at the latest. If you are unable to attend please pick up your child from the theatre foyer at 8.15 pm. 

On the day of the performance (Monday 18^th June), the children will be rehearsing in the afternoon at Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch with the other schools. We will be travelling by coach to the theatre and should arrive back at school at around 3:30pm at the latest. We will be sure to update social media on our arrival time.

Tickets are available to buy for the evening performance priced at £7.00 each. Tickets are on sale now and can be purchased online here or from the Queen’s Theatre box office by phone (01708 443333).

Choir @ Highfield Tower

Our KS2 pupils put in a great performance for the residents of Highfield Towers at their Christmas lunch last week. The pupils entertained the guests with a selection of traditional carols, from Ding Dong Merrily on High to Away In A Manger.

It was lovely to see the residents joining in when we sang. It made us sound like one huge choir!

Pupils at Broadford Primary - part of the Learning Federation, in Harold Hill - are encouraged to volunteer for a range of community events. At different points in their time in KS2 the pupils:

• provide random acts of kindness in the community
• support the foodbank and run sessions for pupils to explain the work it does
• collect food and clothing for local refuges
• sing at sheltered housing events
• support the local pensioner's club
• host a Church v123 family event

It is our intention to enable our pupils to see that they live in the middle of a fantastic community. We want them to be proud of coming from Harold Hill. We aim to ensure that the education they receive means they will be able to choose where they live in the future - having the freedom to buy their own house or rent their own property. If they are on Harold Hill it should be because they chose to be here, not that they are stuck.

Sharing Assembly - KS1 Choir

Well done to our youngest singers who gave a great performance last Wednesday. They sang confidently and had learnt a range of actions to go with their tunes. It was great to see such enthusiasm for the music - we look forward to seeing some of them at the O2 in years to come!

Sharing Assembly - KS2 Choir

In our final Sharing Assembly of the term, the KS2 choir gave a sneak preview of the songs that they will be performing at the O2 next month.

We were really looking forward to singing in front of audience. It is great practice for our Young Voices concert. Singing with Mrs Claxton has really helped developed my confidence. I used to be nervous in front of people... now I am fine.

Choir @ Christmas - Holsworthy House

We have now started the round of Christmas performances in the local sheltered housing homes. First up was Holsworthy House. Residents had to move as their normal location had been flooded in the recent snowfall.

With a collection of classic carols, our pupils really lifted the spirits of the residents.

It was so nice to hear the children's voices. It has really made it a special occasion for me. I love having them hear to sing.

Our Vision Statement places the local community at the heart of our school. Through a range of interactions and events we try to ensure that Broadford reaches far beyond the school gates. These festive choir performances are a great way to provide community service for our younger pupils.

Broadford's Got Talent

Pupils at Broadford Primary finished the year with a talent contest to celebrate their skills. From juggling, to singing to a stand up comedian the pupils had a wide range of acts on show with which to entertain and amaze. Despite the strong competition, there was a stand out winner... Sofia Raif.

Sofia impressed the judges with her flawless piano recital. She tackled a very challenging piece of music and played with both precision and passion. Sofia has clearly practised very hard to reach that level and we were delighted to choose her as the winner

I am so excited. Little Mix are my favourite pop group and I can't wait to see them live. The hours of practice were all worth it!

Year 5: Fiver Challenge

Over the past few weeks, Y5 participated in the Young Enterprise Fiver Challenge. Young Enterprise is the UK's leading enterprise and financial education charity, helping young people to develop the skills they need for life and work.

How did it work?

Pupils were pledged £5 and given one month to set up a mini business to create a product they could sell at a profit and engage with their local community. The children worked extremely hard to hand-craft their products and create packaging and advertising materials.

There were a range of products available to purchase, including
- bookmarks
- slime
- tie-dyed socks
- loom bands
- hand painted decorative balls
- keyrings
- bath bombs
- stress balls

Products were priced between 50p and £3, with lots of special offers and multi-buys also available.

Did they make a profit?

Once all the costs were accounted for, the pupils made £450 profit! The hard part now will be negotiating on how best to spend the proceeds!

Key Stage 2 Choir - Summer Fete

We are delighted to invite the Key Stage 2 choir to perform at the Learning Federation Parents Association Summer Fete on Saturday 1st July at Mead Primary. This will be a great opportunity to perform a small selection of their songs from the Havering Music Festival to the whole Learning Federation.

The performance will start at 1pm so please could children arrive at 12:45pm. After the children have performed, they can enjoy the Summer Fete with their family and friends!

Broadford perform at the Havering Music Festival

We are all so incredibly proud of the children's performance at the Havering Music Festival on Friday. They sang confidently and beautifully and represented Broadford perfectly! It can be nerve-wracking singing on a stage in front of such a large audience but the Key Stage 2 choir weren't at all phased and acted like complete professionals! We would also like to thank all of the parents who came to watch the show, your support is really appreciated and we hope you loved it as much as we did!

Havering Music Festival - 23rd June- Update

***UPDATE*** Please be advised that during the rehearsal children will be expected to be in full school uniform. For the performance in the evening, we ask that children wear a plain coloured top (any colour) and a school skirt or a pair of trousers.

Dear Parents/Carers,

We would like to remind you that the choir will be performing at the Havering Music Festival on 23rd June. The school is closed for an INSET day, however, we have a rehearsal in the morning at the Queen's Theatre in Hornchurch. The children will need to arrive at school by 8:30am and we will travel to the theatre by coach. Your child will then to be collected at 12:30pm from the school office.

The actual performance will start at 7:00pm on Friday 23rd June 2017 and the children will be required to arrive at the theatre by 6:30pm at the latest. If you are unable to attend the concert, please pick your child up from the foyer at 8:15pm.

Please note that tickets are on sale for £8 each and can be purchased from the Queen's Theatre box office by phone on 01708 443 333.

Junior Music Festival Practice

Our choir had the chance to practice their Wind in the Willows songs in preparation for the event on the 23rd June. Have a listen to their voices... it sounded great!

Choir @ Triple S Housing

Our Choir received some wonderful feedback for their recent performance at the Triple S Housing meal. Our pupils are realising that the smallest acts of kindness can have a huge impact on others.

We look forward to the pupils coming every year. This is the fourth time I have heard them and it really made the whole occasion so special.

Choir Perform @ Betty Strathern Centre

Our Choir is on tour again with a number of performances this festive period. Today it was the turn of local Briar Road residents to have some musical accompaniment at their Christmas meal.

Singing a range of Christmas carols and songs from their O2 show, our pupils entertained them for 45mins.

Thank you so much for coming to our meal. It really made the event extra special. The singing was amazing. The children were so confident!
