Calling KS1 & KS2 Choir Members!

Dear parents & carers,

As you will be aware we are hosting our school summer fete on Saturday 8th July. We would like the school choirs to perform during the afternoon to provide some entertainment for our guests.

KS1 Choir - 1.15 pm (arrive at 1.10 pm)

KS2 Choir - 1.45 pm (arrive at 1.40 pm)

Each choir will perform for a short amount of time and present what they have been working on during the course of this academic year.

If you are able to bring your child along on the day to join in please complete the google form below so we are aware of how many pupils we will be expecting.

Non School Uniform Rainbow Tombola Day - Friday 9th June

Rainbow Tombola Day

On Friday 9th June we are holding a non school uniform day at Broadford in support of the ‘Rainbow Tombola’ and for prizes at the summer fete. Pupils can come to school wearing their own clothes, but they must wear school shoes or trainers. Instead of the normal procedure of bringing in some money, on this occasion we are asking pupils to bring in an item to donate to the fete in exchange for wearing non school uniform.

 
As it is a ‘Rainbow Tombola’ and for prizes we need new items which are of course in the colours of the rainbow. We have given each year group a specific colour to make sure that we have a spectrum of colours for our tombola. Please see the list below to see what colour your child’s year group is.

EYFS - Orange

Year 1 - Green

Year 2 - Pink

Year 3 - Purple

Year 4 - Red

Year 5 - Yellow

Year 6 - Blue

All you and your child need to do is select a new item in the specific colour for their year group and bring it into school on the non school uniform day on Friday 9th June. Then come along to the summer fete and play the ‘Rainbow Tombola’ to win a prize every time or play some of the games on offer to collect tickets to exchange for a prize. We can’t wait to see you all there.

Christmas Movie Nights - Fundraising Event

Dear Parents/Carers,

To help raise money for playground equipment - and give you some extra time in the evening to prepare for the festive season - we are holding special viewings of some fantastic children’s movies! For four nights the school will remain open until 5.30pm, each time showing a different movie (see below for titles and dates).

Monday 6th December - Nativity

Tuesday 7th December - Reindeer Rescue

Wednesday 8th December - Elf

Thursday 9th December - Aladdin

The cost of each viewing is £3.50. Children are welcome to come to one, two, three, or all four! All money raised will be spent on creating a mud kitchen and den building area in our playground. There will be an interval during the film where popcorn and soft drinks will be provided. Payment will need to be made via SQUID. If you do not have an account, please contact a member of the office team who will be able to assist you.

All attending pupils will need to be collected from the front of the school. Please click on this link to complete the Google form by FRIDAY 3RD DECEMBER 2021. Confirmation will be your SQUID receipt.

World Book Day Donations

As you are aware, World Book Day is next Thursday 5th March. As always, children and staff will be dressing up as their favourite book characters and completing various exciting activities during the day. 

In addition, Miss Perkins, Mrs Tracey and Mrs Gibson are bravely going to be completing a Sky dive to raise money for our chosen charity, which you can read more about below. To support the extremely courageous ladies, we will be asking for a £1 contribution per family on 5th March which will be donated to the Lennox Children's Cancer fund.

Why You Should Raise Money For Lennox 

Four children in the UK are diagnosed with cancer every day. For the families of those children life is turned upside down as they try to come to terms with the devastating news, as well as dealing with sudden hospital visits, rigorous treatments and often giving up work to care for their sick child full time. Our main aim is to make a positive difference to the lives of children suffering from cancer or leukaemia. This is done emotionally, practically and financially through key projects such as Respite Breaks and Care Grants. Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund is a small charity making a big difference.

Respite Breaks 

For many families with a child fighting cancer, a family holiday often becomes an impossible luxury at a time when it is most needed. Respite Breaks allow families to spend quality time together away from the day-to-day stress of dealing with childhood cancer. We currently own two holiday homes at seaside locations in the UK, one on Mersey Island, Essex and the other in the New Forest, Hampshire. Each Respite Break is provided free of charge and with spending money where possible. A Respite Break can make the world of difference to the child’s wellbeing and we are often told that a short break away is ‘just what the doctor ordered’ for everyone. The ’thank you’ letters and postcards that we receive from families always reflect how much each of them have enjoyed their time away on a Lennox respite break.

Care Grants 

All too often, having a child with cancer can add significant financial pressure to a family at an already stressful time. Care Grants can be used to cover a wide range of expenses such as travel costs to and from hospital appointments, household bills, specialist equipment the child may need, home renovations and, in some sad cases, funeral expenses. They provide a financial cushion to support families through a difficult period and enable them to focus their attention where it is most needed; on their child. Lennox is still one of very few organisations to provide this type of support and there is no doubt that it has an immensely positive effect at a very difficult time.

Non-uniform day to support Lennox Children's Charity - Friday 20th December

During this festive season we would like to support a charity that drives to make a positive difference to the lives of children diagnosed with cancer.

Lennox Children's Cancer Fund provide direct practical, financial and emotional assistance to not just the children, but also their parents and siblings families. Something that not many other organisations or charities do. This could be as simple as paying an electric bill for a family who spend all their time caring for a sick child and are unable to earn an income at the same time. It could be to cover travel expenses to enable a child to receive life-saving treatment, or even just to provide a little cash for a dying child to have that final birthday celebration with family and friends. Lennox also offers respite breaks for children and their families to spend some time away from the burden and trauma of cancer. These breaks are an opportunity for the whole family to escape the treatment, hospitals and doctors and spend quality time together.

Pupils will be having Christmas parties on Friday 20th December 2019.  We invite all pupils to come to school in non-uniform: pulling out their best party outfits, whether it be glittery to dazzle or comfortable to dance in.  We are asking for a voluntary donation of 50p and every penny raised will go directly to Lennox Children's Charity and help bring some joy to those in need.
