This is a chance to look back at the Lowry inspired landscapes created by our Year 6 pupils.
"It was really interesting to learn about how Lowry painted what he could see around him everyday. When I saw how closely he must have been looking - he even noticed the dog by the factory - I thought I should look more carefully as I walk home!" Abbie Maxwell.
Using watercolours, the children created some stunning images.

Year 4 St George's Church
Here's another opportunity to watch the Year 4 Christmas Concert at the St George's Church. It was great to see the children bring the Christmas Story to life through dance, readings, song, poetry and art. Well done to the children who read from the lectern... you were very clear and confident.

House Captains
Here are our latest House Captains - who have been selected by the children. Over the course of the year they will have a number of important jobs:
- helping to motivate their team-mates to collect house points in the weekly competition
- collecting house points from classes, totalling them up and reading out scores in assembly
- organising the teams needed for the different inter house competitions
- helping Miss Cook & Mr Portway to run the different events: hockey, football & sports day
Good luck to our new leaders... we know that you'll do a great job.
Reciprocity
"We will have to be great examples with our politeness and enthusiasm. If we do that, our team mates will imitate us and score lots of points!" William Edwards
"On Sports Day I will make sure that I am the loudest one cheering on my team. It is so important that I help to encourage everyone to do their best." Alex Wicher
Learning Power Awards:
These are the key skills that our children will need to learn effectively in class and be successful later in life. Lacey Joyett, Gracee Mae Coble & Molly May Harrop have demonstrated effective reciprocity this week – able to listen carefully, work collaboratively and take turns.
Lillie Mersh, Megan Lewis, Olivia Crane & Simran Bashir have shown curiosity about their learning, made links between ideas and capitalized on resources to earn their Resourcefulness Award.
Morgan has shown that she can persevere, manage distractions and become absorbed in her learning. Arya Shah has been able to identify key features, revise his ideas and talk about his learning to earn his Reflectiveness Award.

Back To School: Monday 5th January
Sadly it is official... Christmas is over for another year! School will be open for business on Monday morning from 8am (for Breakfast Club) or 8.30am for everyone else. We look forward to seeing you bright and early on Monday morning to tell us all about your holidays, which we hope have been restful and enjoyable.
Don't forget that Year 5 are straight back to swimming on Monday! Bring your kit and towels ready for the afternoon.
There are no clubs for the first week back, so all pupils will need to be collected at the normal time (3.05pm for Reception, 3.15pm for KS1 & KS2 and 3.30pm for afternoon Nursery).
See you on Monday!

We're In The Paper!
Over the holidays there have been three stories about the school featured. First we had our own Lesly Vumuka chosen as the Star of the Week. Next the paper featured the story of how we have come in the top 100 of all schools nationally for progress.
This week there is an article about the Holocaust survivor visit to our Year 6 pupils. If you missed out on any of the coverage, please see the images below. We look forward to many more stories in 2015!

The arrow which looks like a smiling face in Amazon’s logo has another meaning behind it. It is a representation of the wide range of items available for retail by Amazon, from A to Z.

Australian James Harrison is called “the man with the golden arm” due to the unusual composition of his blood. In 1954, it was discovered that his blood contained a rare, very valuable antibody that could be used to treat Rhesus disease.

Strawberries come from a plant called ‘fragaria’. Did you know that the little hard pieces that appear to be seeds on a strawberry are actually a type of dry fruit (called achene)....that contain their own seeds!

A banana is technically a berry produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants. In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.
