Anti Bullying Week: 12th - 15th November

Change starts with us!

Next week is Anti-bullying week, an annual campaign run by the Anti-Bullying Alliance. The theme for Anti-Bullying Week 2019 is ‘Change Starts With Us

According to the Anti-Bullying Alliance, the aims of this year’s theme are:

“Whether it is verbal, physical, online or in-person, bullying has a significant impact on a child’s life well in to adulthood. By making small, simple changes, we can break this cycle and create a safe environment for everyone. Because together, we can challenge bullying. Change starts with a conversation. It starts with checking in. It starts with work[ing] together.”

We know it's important to make sure children feel happy and safe at school and online, so we've planned some thought-provoking activities to help start the anti-bullying conversation and promote kindness this Anti-Bullying Week.

UK Parliament Week: 2nd November - 8th November

UK Parliament Week is an annual festival that engages people from across the UK with their UK Parliament, explores what it means to them and empowers them to get involved.

Pupils will be exploring how Parliament works, how both Houses debate a range of important issues that can affect all of us. They will discover how these formal discussions are a chance for members to share different and opposing opinions on a specific topic or idea. It’s an opportunity to raise awareness of issues, listen to different points of view and potentially persuade people to think differently!

It is vitally important have an awareness of democracy and how our country is run.  We look forward to sharing with you some of the activities pupils will be taking part in.
