Weekly Newsletter - Friday 5th February

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

At last January is over and February is here. By the end of this month the sun will not start to set until 5.41 pm. Spring is on the way and there are brighter days ahead.

Free School Meals

We have received confirmation that Havering will continue to fund the school meal holiday scheme for those most in need during the half term break, and from Monday 8th February, families will be able to apply for the £15 for each child in receipt of free schools meals to support them while their school is closed for half term.

The applications window will open at 9am on Monday 8th February, and will close at 5pm on Friday 12th February.
families who received a payment for October half term and Christmas holiday period do not need to reapply, and will automatically receive the funds into their nominated bank account by Friday 12th February.

Eligible families who make a new application in February and have not received payment via the school meal holiday scheme in the past, are expected to receive payments over half term.
The scheme is for children who are of statutory school age and are eligible under the benefit criteria for free school meals during term time. The scheme is administered by each local authority to its eligible residents regardless of the borough of the school they attend, so if parents/carers live in Havering but their child goes to a school outside of Havering, they apply to Havering.

If they live outside of Havering but their child goes to a Havering school, they need to apply for the scheme with the borough they live in. All infant age children receive free school meals, but only children in receipt of benefit related free school meals are eligible for this extra support.

For more information about the scheme and for details on the eligibility criteria, parents/carers can visit https://www.havering.gov.uk/covid19mealsupport

Half Term: Monday 15th - Friday 19th February

The children’s last day this half term will be Friday 12th February and the second half of the Spring term resumes on Monday 22nd February. The first day back after half term (Monday 22nd February) is an INSET day and there will not be any remote learning set or bubbles in school on this day. Remote learning will resume on Tuesday 23rd February and pupils who attend school will return on Tuesday 23rd at 8.30am .

TTRS - Star of the week!

A huge well done to Praharsh!

Praharsh is another pupil who has earned the top status of Rock Hero on the TTRS platform. His current studio speed is 0.72 (under 1 second per question) which is amazing! We are particularly impressed with Praharsh's obvious determination and resilience when working on his table facts and speed. At the start of this year, his initial studio speed was 7.89 seconds but he has managed to chop off over 7 seconds which perfectly demonstrates to us all that hard work pays off.

Praharsh also has lifetime earnings of 1,286,214 coins which again proves just how hard he has been working on his tables. These stats combined are what makes him a worthy star of the week.

Well done Praharsh.

Weekly Newsletter - Friday 29th January

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

We hope that you all enjoyed your very first Wellbeing Wednesday. It has been lovely to hear about the activities that you took part in. Cookery, making your own slime and playdough and getting outside in the fresh air are just a few of the activities that kept you busy this Wednesday afternoon. We are looking forward to seeing what you get up to next week. The week beginning Monday 1st February is National Storytelling week and it would be lovely to see you spending your time on Wellbeing Wednesday sharing stories.

Learning League

Obviously, at the moment we cannot calculate attendance so instead we are going to change the attendance league to the learning league. Each week we will announce which year group has been the most active on google classroom, they will be awarded full marks and shoot to the top of the learning league table. Make sure that you are tuning into those google meets and turning in your assignments to ensure that your year group is at the top of the league table. We will review the scores at half term and the year group at the top of the league will win an online party/magician session. This week congratulations to;

TTRS - Star of the week!

This week, the TTRS award is going to Oliver!

In the last 7 days, Oliver is the pupil in Year 5 who has played the most minutes per day (18 minutes) and has earned 50,859 coins. This is all just in the last week which is particularly significant to ensure children are keeping their times table knowledge fresh. In fact, Oliver has played more minutes on average each day than any other pupils in year 4, 5 or 6!

Well done Oliver, you are showing upper KS2 exactly how to be a Rock Hero like yourself!
