Weekly Newsletters - Friday 14th July

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

Summer Fete
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who came and supported our summer fete last weekend. We were overwhelmed by your support, thank you.
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that the event raised £3102.88, which will go towards our overall fundraising total this year.

The NED Show
This week pupils in years 1-6 had a visit from Chad at NED’s Mindset Mission This  is a positive behaviour assembly and Chad is a world-class performer who guided our pupils through a 45-minute journey filled with storytelling, illusions, yo-yo tricks and humour. NED’s message and memorable friends inspire students, promote academic achievement, and supports our school goals.

Never give up Encourage others Do your best® A yo-yo is both a mindset tool and tangible reminder of NED’s message. While learning to yo-yo, children will make mistakes, try again, & improve. Read more at www.MindsetMission.com/yoyos.
Yo-yo’s will be on sale next week in school at break times and lunchtimes, if children would like to purchase one. Parents have received an email about this previously, please check your inbox.

The results are in! The scores have been counted and verified and I am excited to announce that …

Congratulations to Chatteris and Dulverton houses.

Year 6 Leavers
Year 6 enjoyed their leavers celebration this week and it was a wonderful occasion and a great time was had by all. Well done to year 6 who spoke, sung and presented like professionals. Thank you to the staff for putting it all together and many thanks to all of the parents who supported this occasion.
Year 6 Parents
Walk your child to school one last time this week. Even if they don’t want you to. Laugh about the sticks they used to collect or the painting they so carefully carried. Reminisce about their sports days and how funny they were in their nativity. Tell them how proud you are of them and how excited you are to see them grow. Remember how little their hand was when you held it on the first day of reception. Hold that hand again as you walk with them one last time.
You have done a great job.

Go Bonkers
Yesterday we had a fabulous day in school and pupils enjoyed their sessions on the inflatables and cooled down after all the bouncy fun with an ice cold popsicle. Please look out for the video which will be posted shortly.

Reports and Parents Evening

Your child’s end of year report will be sent home today. If you would like to discuss the report with your child’s class teacher all staff will be available from 3.15 pm on Monday 17th July. If you would like an appointment please email the year group email box. There is a feedback form which we would ask all parents to complete and send back to school by the end of the term. We warmly welcome your feedback and would love to hear if there is anything you feel we could improve.

After School Clubs

Today, Friday 14th July, is the last day for after school clubs. You will be sent  information regarding new clubs in September.

Meet the New Teachers and Classes

Transition activities have been in full flow over the last few weeks in school. There will be blogs posted after school, which will be available to read via the school website and facebook. This information will include year group staff for September and you will receive a letter on Monday informing you of your child’s new teacher and class. On Tuesday 19th July, all pupils will have the opportunity to spend time with their new teachers in their new classrooms. I have no doubt you will hear all about it when you collect your child at the end of the day.

Please can you ensure that all school reading books, Read, Write, Inc books and library books are returned to school by Tuesday 18th July.

Return to School: Wednesday 6th September

We are looking forward to welcoming back pupils in years 1 - 6 on Wednesday 6th September  after the summer break.

School Day Times from September 2023

We have previously informed you  that by September 2023, all mainstream schools will be expected to provide a compulsory week of at least 32.5 hours by the government. This means at Broadford that we need to extend our school day by 15 mins. Currently our doors open at 8.30am and pupils must be in school by 8.55am. We carried a consultation in the spring term and have taken into account the views and opinions of the majority of stakeholders. Therefore, from September 2023 the doors will open for pupils at 8.30 am as usual and children MUST be registered in their classrooms by 8.45 am. At the end of the day children will be dismissed at 3.15 pm.

Uniform Vouchers
If your child is eligible for the pupil premium grant then you are able to request a voucher for uniform. Please send your requests to the office via email and for the attention of Mrs West by Monday 17th July. Many thanks.

Travelling abroad, enjoying a staycation, visiting a landmark, picnicking in the park or staying home, whatever it may be, we would love to see you reading in unusual and interesting places! A winner and runner up will be chosen when we return to school in September. All pupils will receive a certificate. Winners will be rewarded with national Book Tokens.
