Dear Parents and Carers,
Part 1 Broadford News
Welcome Back
It is wonderful to be back at school for the summer term. It is hard to believe that we are in the final term of this academic year but I can categorically state that this term is going to be a good one. We have much to look forward to with welcoming our new pupils and families, sports days and summer term events, which, this year include, a colour run and Broadford’s Got Talent! We are looking forward to this just as much as the children.
Thank you to the many parents who joined us for the Graduation ceremonies at the end of last term. These events are a very special way to celebrate the children’s achievements together. A massive well done to all of the pupils and staff for all of their hard work.
University of Broadford - Sports Edition
This summer term we are thinking about being healthy and we have a focus on healthy eating and moving our bodies more. Today, KS2 pupils will start participating in the University of Broadford - Sports Edition. Over the next 5 weeks pupils will participate in sporting sessions from basketball to hockey and hiking to dancing! Let the summer of sport begin!
Marathon
On Saturday 26th April (tomorrow!) 15 of our year 5&6 cross country runners will be taking part in the Mini London Marathon. The children will be running 2.6km of the world famous London Marathon route and will cross the finish line on The Mall. This is a fantastic opportunity for them and we wish them the best of luck for tomorrow.
Opal Platinum Accreditation
I am thrilled to announce that Mrs Stanley and the lunchtime team have achieved Platinum Opal status for the implementation of outdoor play and learning.
The assessor commented on how joyful playtime is for the children and on how many children stated that they love playtime and talked about all of the activities that are available to them.
Platinum status is awarded to schools who achieve over 90% against the Opal criteria which means that Broadford is in the top 10% of Opal schools in the world.
Congratulations to Mrs Stanley and the lunchtime team for all of their hard work and dedication in ensuring that pupils have a variety of play activities outside.
After School Clubs
After School clubs start on Monday 28th April. You will have received an email from the clubbly website which would state if your child has been allocated a place in a club or if you are on a waiting list. Please check your emails.
Uniform
Just a reminder that the correct school uniform should be worn every day. Pupils should be wearing, white polo shirts, navy blue jumpers, grey trousers, shorts or skirts or blue gingham summer dresses. Polo shirts and jumpers do not need to include the Broadford logo but unbranded uniform must be plain. PE kits can be worn to school on PE days. Kit must be navy shorts and plain white t-shirts with or without the Broadford logo.

Both classes have earned a non uniform day. Congratulations to all of the pupils in these classes who have remembered their number one job of coming to school every day on time. The overall attendance for this term is 95%. Well done to everyone and we have the Summer term to make 1% improvement to reach our target of 96%.
