Dear Parents and Carers,
Part 1 Broadford News
Happy New Year
Happy New Year to everyone, and welcome back after the break. We hope you all enjoyed a wonderful festive period. It has been lovely to see the children return to school this week full of enthusiasm and ready for an exciting term ahead.
Although this is a shorter term, it is often a very productive one. The children are familiar with the routines and expectations, allowing teachers to focus closely on supporting their progress. This term, we will once again be opening the doors of the University of Broadford, and we know how much these activities inspire and capture the children’s imaginations.
We also look forward to welcoming parents and carers after half term to meet with teachers and hear more about your child’s learning so far this year. We are all excited for a happy and successful Spring term.
Attendance
Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week: Let’s Start the Year Right!
As we kick off the new school year, we’re excited to inform you about our new ‘Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week', on Monday 12th January!
This special initiative is designed to encourage everyone to embrace the importance of being on time, remembering our 'Pupil Job 1', while having a bit of fun along the way.
Pupil Job 1 - Come to school every day on time
Parent responsibility - Ensure that your child arrives for school on time, every day and ready to learn.
Weekly Attendance Target 96%
Here’s how it works:
๐ Daily Prize Draw
Each day of the week, if you arrive at school on time, your name will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a delightful bag of treats! The more days you arrive on time, the more chances you have to win! It’s a simple and fun way to motivate everyone to prioritise punctuality.
๐ฝ️Early Bird Breakfast Treat on Friday:
As an extra incentive, we’ll be hosting a ‘special early bird breakfast treat’ this Friday for all children who arrive by 8:45 AM. Collect your treat from outside the main office before you head off to your classroom. It’s our way of saying thank you for your commitment to being on time and starting the day off right!
๐Whole Class Treat:
We want to elevate the excitement even further! Any class that achieves amazing attendance and/or perfect punctuality for the entire week will receive a special whole-class treat. So, encourage one another and show your commitment to being present and punctual!
Let’s make a fantastic start to the school year by showing our commitment to attendance and punctuality. Remember, arriving on time not only helps you settle in for a successful day of learning, it also sets a great example for your peers.
We are excited to see all of you bright and early, ready to learn and participate. Let’s set a positive tone for the rest of the year and build the habits that will lead us to success!
Best of luck to all, and let the attendance challenge begin!
Spring term after school clubs start on Monday 12th January and will continue up to Thursday 12th March. Please ensure that pupils are collected promptly at 4.15 pm.
After school clubs will be cancelled on Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th March due to parent consultation evenings.
We hope all the pupils enjoy their activities this term.
School Uniform
It has been wonderful to see all of the pupils return to school looking very smart in their school uniform. Please be reminded that the school colours are navy blue and grey/black. All school uniform is available through Khalas School Wear (http://www.khalsaschoolwear.co.uk). If you require any assistance with uniform please speak to Mrs West in the school office.
Reception Admissions September 2026
If your child is looking to join our school in Reception 2026 it is vital that you get your application completed by 15th January 2026 or it is likely you will miss out. Last year we had more applications than places available! Even as a three form entry school, we have more expressions of interest than we have places – YOU MUST APPLY! Attending our Nursery will have no impact on your application. Many parents mistakenly believe that a place in the Nursery = a place in Reception… it doesn’t!
Shared mailboxes and communication
Don’t forget that you can contact staff using the shared mailboxes. They are checked daily and can be used to ask questions, pass on information or check details:

We are always happy to answer any questions you may have. Most mornings you will also be able to find myself, Mrs Stanley, Mrs Ward, Miss Estall, Mr Kearns or Mrs Wallis to help you with any enquiries. If you would prefer an appointment please call into the office to fix a time.
Winter is here!
We have definitely felt a drop in temperature this week, with chillier mornings and much fresher air! Please help us by making sure your child comes to school dressed for the weather each day, even if they travel by car. The children go outside daily, and we have noticed that some children have not brought coats this week. As we only have a limited supply of spare clothing, we kindly ask that you ensure your child has a warm coat and is appropriately dressed for outdoor activities. We would ask that children bring into a school a pair of indoor shoes (plimsoles, crocs or slippers) to change into after being outside. Not only will they be more comfortable but it will help us in keeping the school cleaner. Thank you for your support in keeping everyone warm and comfortable.
