Kirkland Rowell - Parents Survey

Each term we have carried out a questionnaire to ensure that you have the opportunity to tell us your views about the school. In both the Autumn and Spring term we used an in house form. This time our Locality group (all the primary schools on the Hill) have paid for a company to collate the questionnaire and analyse the data.
Your child (eldest sibling) will have bought home a form tonight which needs to be returned by Tuesday 15th May. As an incentive to increase the level of parental participation we are offering two prizes:
  1. The class which returns the most forms will earn themselves a reward of movie time + popcorn + drinks
  2. If the school manages a return rate of over 60%, all the children will earn a extra playtime.
The continued support you have shown the school and regular stream of good ideas you have offered have really helped us move forward together. We are determined that your children will get the best education on the hill, we will be the best school on the hill, and to do this we need to hear from you... the best parents on the hill!

I look forward to reading through your responses next week.

Toddler vs Lioness

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-17949808

Amazingly a hungry lioness - called Kya - took a real liking to a small toddler during his trip to a zoo in America. With the plate glass window protecting him, the young child remained oblivious to the large cat. The boy's family were visiting the park in Portland, Oregon for a fun family day out. However no one had told the lioness it is rude to try and eat the guests!

School Lunches - Teddy Bear's Picnic 18th May

On Friday May 18th we are having a Teddy Bear's Picnic themed school dinner. This year we have already seen some fantastic themed school dinners: the Easter Feast, St George's Day Menu and Christmas Lunch. Now we are getting ready for the Teddy Bear's Picnic. Have a look at the menu below:

Teddy Bear Lunch Time Special
 Winnie the Pooh Sticky Chicken
Polar Bears Fish Tiddlers
Rupert Bear Cheesy Pasta Bake
Kung Fu Panda Hash Brown Nuggets
Baloo’s Herby New Potatoes

At the last event there were over 170 school lunches served! Let's see if we can beat that total this time.

Persimmon Homes awards £200 prize to the school!

Our Year 5 children have taken part in a competition to name a local housing estate for the developers Persimmion… and won! Neave Gardens was the suggestion of Mia Rose (from Maple) and that was chosen as the winner. As a result she has earned some WHSmith vouchers for herself and £200 for the school. The housing development will be called Neave Place; but the show home will be named Neave Gardens. Runners up prizes were also given to Arras Hovells, Lemarr Benton and Elsaf Zema. Watch out for the Romford Recorder next week as I feel a story coming on.
