New Infill Classroom Underway

This week the builders have begun preparations for the new KS1 classroom. It means that from September we will no longer have split form classes in Year 1 & 2. We will also benefit from being able to offer smaller class sizes. Our limit for each year group has not been increased from 45 pupils, so we will be able to offer KS1 classes of no more than 25 pupils.

Fact Hunters: Planets, heart disease and the Sun!

Louise Paius
Mercury is one of the smallest major planets with a diameter of about 4,880km. It has a mass 18 times less than that of Earth.

Emma Groom
Sadly heart disease accounts for over a quarter of all deaths in the UK each year: over 159,000!

Thelma Amankwah
Incredibly the sun’s core has a temperature of around 15.7million Kelvin… that is extremely hot! Light from the sun takes approximately 8mins and 19secs to reach the Earth.

Green Win The House Cup

After a busy term of tucking in shirts, opening doors, being kind to others, helping staff, being on time, saying thank you and using their cutlery the Green team emerged triumphant. By the slimmest of margins, they managed to hold the Reds at bay and scooped the cakes and drink prize for the second time this year!

Harold Hill Ambitions Update & Jobs Information

Please find information below relating to the Harold Hill Ambitions Programme, including an update on jobs which are now live at the Tesco distribution depot in Rainham.

1. Tesco Jobs at Rainham:
As you may know Tesco have announced that they will be opening their distribution centre in Rainham this summer. The warehouse, when fully operational, will employ around 750 people, mainly as warehouse team members and drivers.

This is a great opportunity for Havering residents to find work with a major employer in the borough and we would really like your help to let local people know what’s available.

We have already arranged a series of briefing sessions for Havering residents who want to find out more about the distribution centre and the jobs on offer. The briefing sessions will take place in the Town Hall on 11th April and 12th April and will take place throughout the day.

Residents must book a place if they plan to attend a briefing session. Places can be booked by emailing jobsinrainham@havering.gov.uk or telephoning 01708 43 44 77.

Each session will last one hour and includes some information about the free support Havering College and Havering Adult College can offer people interested in applying for jobs and who also need a bit more help with a job application, particularly the first stage which is an on-line psychometric test.

Finally if you know of any Havering resident interested in the jobs and who wants to apply without help they can do so by going to the Tesco careers website – www.tesco-careers.com and clicking on the ‘Working in Depot’ heading.

2. Harold Hill Small Grants -
