Diary Dates

Next week is Science week and the pupils will be treated to a whole host of scientific activities.

On Monday 13th pupils in years 3&4 will be participating in a road safety theatre in education session.

On Tuesday 14th in the afternoon, NHS reception health checks continue and the netball team are going to Pyrgo Priory for a match.

On Wednesday 15th at 8.30 am the school nurse Cathie Forrester will be holding her parents drop in session. Please feel free to come along if there is anything that Cathie can support you with.

Birch class will be sharing their work with us at 9.00 am on Wednesday 14th. We would like to invite all parents and carers of the pupils in Birch to join us on this occasion.

On Thursday 16th pupils will be enjoying the Science Show, which I am sure will be a fantastic celebration of all things science.

The school quiz team will be flying the Broadford Primary flag high on Thursday afternoon at the general knowledge quiz.

On Friday 17th we will be celebrating Red Nose day in school. The children will be able to wear an item of red clothing with their uniform on this day and we will be collecting money for this very worthwhile cause. Miss Cook will be sending home further details with the children.

Competition: Design the Easter TfL Card!

Could your design be featured on the annual Transport for London Easter card? Pupils from Broadford Primary have been invited to enter the competition and show off their creative flair and talent.

Becky is the TfL bunny who will be reminding you to Check Your Travel over the Easter holiday. In this space provided on the entry form, please draw a design that can be used to help TfL tell the people of London about the changes to our networks over the holiday, thinking about the following:

• How do you think Becky the Bunny should sustainably travel around London over the holidays?
• How will Becky deliver all the Easter eggs around London
• Who or what will be able to help Becky deliver them?

Entries should be returned to Miss Chau in Redwood by Friday 17th March so that they can be sent off in time to be judged by Transport for London. The JTAs will be on hand to pick their favourite winners who will receive prizes in school!

Children can also ask their parents to share their design on Instagram, Twitter or Facebook using the the hashtag #hopontfl

Diary Dates

 

The governing body of the learning Federation invites all parents and carers of all of our children to a governors and parents meeting. This will be held at Mead Primary School at 9.00am on Tuesday 7th March. There will be a raffle to win a stationery hamper for your child’s class.

On Tuesday next week we have a visit from our development office in regards to the teaching of Read, Write, Inc. She will be working with staff to ensure that our teaching reaches the highest possible standards.

 

On Wednesday we invite all parents and carers of children in Pine class to join us at 9.00am for their sharing assembly.

Miss Sparkes and the pupils who attend her book club are going to watch Matilda in London and compare the book to the theatre show.

 

On Thursday the year 3&4 football team are going to compete in a cluster football competition at St Ursula’s.

 

Pupils in year 4 are going to enjoy the sights of London town from a cruise boat on the river Thames. Very fancy!

Competition: Design the new WoW badge!

The new theme for Walk on Wednesday is 'Walk the Americas' and pupils have been asked to design the new badge which will eventually be distributed to all the pupils in all the schools that take part in WOW. 

Drawings could include:

- Animals (e.g. Alaskan brown bear; Peruvian llama)

- Manmade landmarks (e.g. Macchu Picchu; Empire State Building)

- Culture e.g. Music and food (maple syrup, tango dancing)

The Broadford winners will be selected by the new JTAs and will be sent off to be judged against the 120,000 national entries. There will be 11 overall winners and the designs will be made into 400,000 badges and they will receive a WOW trophy and goody bag along with a year's supply of WOW resources for their school! 

The entry forms will be given out this week to pupils in classes from Reception to Year 6 and the deadline is Friday 10th March. We can't wait to see all the entries! 

LFPA Volunteer Meetin Rescheduled

The LFPA volunteer meeting on Thursday 2nd March has been rescheduled for Thursday 9th March 4.00pm at Mead Primary School.

We hope that many of you will be able to attend.
