Dear Parents and Carers,
I can hardly believe that we have come to the end of the first half term already. The past 7 weeks have been unusual as we are living in challenging and difficult times. However, as always the pupils have taken these challenges in their stride and we are so proud of how they have settled back into school life and continued with their learning. We are already looking forward to them returning after the half term break so we can continue with our ‘new normal’. I wish you and your families an enjoyable and restful half term together.
Parents’ Evening
Thank you to all of the parents who engaged in telephone calls with teachers. This is obviously not our usual way of communicating with you but we do appreciate your patience and support during this time. We hope that you found the pupil passports informative and enjoyed the opportunity to discuss this with your child’s teachers.
Back to School
We return to school for the second half of the autumn term on Monday 2nd November with breakfast club starting at 7.45 am for pupils who have booked. The staggered start and end of the school day will continue due to Covid-19 measures in place. The newly appointed executive headteacher for The Learning Federation starts with us after half term. I am sure that you will get to meet Mr Denchfield very soon. After school clubs will commence on Monday 9th November.
Year 6 Parents - 31st October 2019
The deadline for applying for secondary school places is fast approaching. Please ensure that you have registered for an online account and applied for a secondary place before 31st October. However the eAdmissions helpdesk will not be available after 5pm on Friday 30 October so it is recommended that you complete your application by no later than Midday on the 30th October. This will ensure that if you do experience any unforeseen problems, there is ample time for these to be rectified before the closing date.
Children In Need
Broadford will be hosting a very special day to raise money for Children In Need this year on Friday 13th November.
This will include:
- Non-uniform day with a theme.
- Joe Wicks’ Ultimate Feel Good Friday.
- Design a new Pudsey competition to take place within classes.
- Fun Pudsey themed activities to take part in throughout the day in class.
This year you can also take part in Act Your Age at home. You can take the age of your child and turn it into a fundraiser. For example, if you are six years old you can read six books in total over six days! You can send any pictures of your child taking part in Act Your Age for us to share.
I am sure that we will all have a fun day raising money for Children In Need.
S.M.I.L.E Christmas Appeal
Many children will not receive anything from Father Christmas this year as they are living below the breadline. Therefore S.M.I.L.E are providing shoe boxes full of treats and delivering them to families who need the most support. Every year the numbers of families in need grow, and as a result of this they are always in need of donations from our community to fulfill this Christmas miracle.
