105 Books for Read Before You Leave Broadford - Year 3

At Broadford, we aim to encourage a love of reading. By providing our pupils with quality texts and introducing them to strong characters, we can broaden their perspectives on the world around them as they are taken to far off lands from the comfort of their own chair!

With this in mind, we have created a new reading reward system that sees our children reading quality over quantity. Each year group has chosen 15 quality stories for their pupils to read across the academic year. All 15 titles are listed in their brand new trackers. As they read their way through the tracker they will be rewarded with certificates and prizes.

In each year group there will be three certificates to earn - bronze, silver and gold - each featuring a different tree. In total there are twenty-one certificates (and trees) to collect.

Year 3 trackers are below. You’ll notice that some books have a gold star next to them, this indicates that the book can be reviewed using My Book Blog. Using My Book Blog helps to develop comprehension and vocabulary skills, at the same time as allowing us, as adults, to see how well they understand the text.

In Year 3 pupils can earn three certificates, each with their own tree. Bronze certificate is awarded when your child has read 5 books, Silver for 10 and Gold for completing the tracker.

Trackers will remain in school, a sheet will be sent home for you to refer to. If you could kindly make a note of any books they read from the list in their reading record, we will then make sure their trackers are updated in class.

Back to School - Monday 2nd November

We return to school for the second half of the autumn term on Monday 2nd November  with breakfast club starting at 7.45 am for pupils who have booked. The staggered start and end of the school day will continue due to Covid-19 measures in place.

Due to the announcement from the Prime Minister yesterday can I please remind you to turn up at your child's year group allocated time (not before) and then I urge all parents to move away from the gates to allow other parents to drop and collect their children. Please do not congregate at the front gates in the morning or in the playground in the afternoon. During the afternoon collection please ensure that you use the one way system in and out of the playground. We are all responsible for our own social distancing but we must be mindful for others.

Many thanks for your co-operation in this matter.

Nursery and Reception pupils and parents continue to enter via the doors to the right of the office at the front of the school.

All other pupils enter the school site via the gates towards the bottom of Farringdon Avenue.

Year 4 & Year 6
8.30 am - 2.50 pm

Year 1 & Year 2
8.40 am - 3.00 pm

Year 3 & Year 5
8.50 am - 3.10 pm

These are the same arrangements as last half term.
