Dementia Friends Assembly

This morning we were delighted to welcome in Michael Erinle, who came to talk about the work of Dementia Friends. Many of the children can relate the experiences he spoke of to members of their own family. Please have a look at their website for more information on how you can support this cause.

Five things you need to know:
  1. Dementia is not a natural part of the ageing process.
  2. Dementia is caused by diseases of the brain.
  3. It is not just about losing your memory.
  4. It's possible to live well with it.
  5. There is more to the person than the dementia.
Dementia actions could include:
  • behaving patiently with someone showing the signs of dementia
  • spending more time with, helping or supporting a friend or relative affected by dementia
  • signposting people affected by dementia to more information and support
  • volunteering with an organisation to support people with dementia.
  • fundraising for a dementia-related cause.
  • helping your workplace to be more dementia friendly.
  • telling other people about Dementia Friends or spreading the word through social media.
