Fact Hunters: Pandas, Churches & Wolves

Did you know that giant pandas are endangered? Newborn pandas are about the size of a stick of butter—about 1/900th the size of its mother—but can grow to up to 330 pounds as adults!

Incredibly a Roman Emperor, called Hadrian, build a wall all the way across England to separate Britannia from the Celts and Picts. These warriors were very good at ambushing Roman soldiers as they hid in the woods and bushed.

Amazingly there were 97 parish churches in London before 1666. By 1667 there were only 39. This was because 58 had burnt down in the Great Fire.

The earwig is an unusual insect because the female shows great care for her eggs. She will clean them to ensure that mould doesn’t grow. Eggs that are not cared for would often not survive.
