Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Dairy Dates
We are delighted that our Reception pupils will start school full time from Monday 24th September.
On Monday afternoon year 4 pupils will be taking part in their first Mary Poppins creative session with Brookside pupils.
Harry Potter book club pupils will be watching the first film in preparation for their Harry Potter quiz on Tuesday 25th  in the afternoon. After school the Broadford netball team are playing against the Harold Court netball team.
On Wednesday 26th in the  afternoon year 4 pupils are participating in a Roman workshop and LAMDA lessons continue. At 5.45 we are looking forward to welcoming Rev Rich and Dads, Uncles and older brothers along to the Dads and kids sports night.
On Thursday 27th year 1 pupils are visiting the forest and some  year 5&6 pupils will be taking part in the Hi5 netball tournament at the Albany School.
Please keep an eye out on the blog for all of the above stories.

Reception & End of Day Routines
Our Reception pupils start attending for full days from Monday 24th September, so therefore all Reception parents will be collecting pupils from the Reception classroom doors at the end of the day.
We are aware that at the end of the day the school grounds become very congested. This is due to the fact that the after school clubs are not running at the moment and the increased pupil numbers this.  I am sure you will appreciate that we want to ensure that all pupils are dismissed from school safely at 3.00 pm. To this end can I remind all parents/carers of end of day arrangements. Please enter the school grounds via the KS1 door and make your way to your child’s classroom and teachers will dismiss the children from the classrooms. All pupils and adults must continue to follow the one way system and exit through the side door. During this time we must be considerate to each other as the safety of all pupils is paramount.  Your help and support in this matter is greatly appreciated.

LFPA Firework Extravaganza
The Learning Federation Parents’ Association are once again busy planning this year’s firework display which will take place on Friday 2nd November 2018 at Broadford Primary School, 5.30pm-8.30pm.  Last year we welcomed over 1200 guests and were overwhelmed at the positive feedback from parents and visitors - we sold out of tickets in advance.
There will be live music featuring Charlie Dillon from ITV’s The Voice Kids, trapeze artists, DJ, Slime Tub Zone, BBQ, firework crafting zone, UV face painting and much, much more.
It’s important for us to ensure members of the school community are given first preference and a discount on tickets. Early Bird discount tickets are available until Friday 5th October 2018 by completing the letter/ticket application form which was sent home to all parents last week.  If you need another copy of the letter/form please contact the school office or email romfordfireworks@mail.com.
Family tickets cost £14 each (2 adults, 2 children)
Child tickets cost £4 each (under the age of 14 - under 3’s are free)
Adult tickets cost £5 each

Stay & Learn Sessions
We have listened to feedback from our pupils and have taken this feedback on board to make changes to the way in which the children share their learning with their parents.
This year we intend on trailing a new system for providing parents with opportunities to gain an insight into the learning that takes place in the classroom. We will be inviting parents into school every half term for a stay and learn session where parents will have the opportunity to learn alongside their child.
We hope that you will find these sessions enjoyable and informative and we look forward to hearing your feedback. The dates for the autumn term are below. Sessions start at 9.00 am.
