Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls
Dear Parents and Carers,
Please be reminded that school is closed this Monday 3rd May for May Day (bank holiday). I hope you enjoy the extended weekend and look forward to seeing all our pupils back in school on Tuesday next week. Remote learning will be offered for all pupils on Thursday 6th May as the school is closed due to the hall being used as a polling station.
Learning Days Ahead
Number Rock Out Day - Friday 7th May
As we all know, times tables are such a key part of the maths curriculum and at Broadford we believe that 15 minutes daily practice on Times Tables Rock Stars will lead to confident, fluent mathematicians. With that in mind, we would like to get the children excited about TT Rock Stars by turning the school into our very own Rock Star Arena for the day.
We would like children and staff to turn into their fabulous Rock Star selves and dress up for the day. We are looking for the wackiest hairstyles and the craziest rock star outfits for children to rock out to!
As part of the celebration, the children will participate in maths games within their classes and, of course, have some fun on TT Rockstars! We know that children in Early Years are not quite ready to rock out their times tables yet, but we would still love for them to get involved and we'll make sure that there are some appropriate number games for them to enjoy!
Please find more information about how the children can use TT Rockstars to support their learning in mathematics here.
We can't wait to celebrate with all the children on Friday 7th May!
Eid Day
The school curriculum should provide pupils with a range of experiences that deepen their spiritual understanding of their school and their community as well as other communities. By their developing awareness children will learn to treat each other with respect. On Friday 14th May we are going to learn about the festival of Eid, which is also known as “The Festival of Breaking the Fast” and marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. All pupils will participate in activities throughout the day and learn about this important day that is celebrated by many members of our school community. We would like all staff and pupils to dress in colourful clothes for the day the brighter the better.
We are looking forward to the special event on Friday 14th May.
Charity Donations
Many of you will be aware that over the past year we have had pupils and families in our school community who are battling and coming to terms with the effects of Cancer. Throughout this summer term, as a school we would like to participate in events to raise awareness and money for a charity who particularly work with and support children who have been affected by Cancer. Therefore, if you are able to contribute, we are asking for a small donation of 50p per child or £1 per family to go towards our chosen charity for each of the events above. Our chosen charity is Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.
We are also planning on holding a sponsored event later in the term.
Summer Term Dates
Havering Catering Services
Week beginning 3rd May is week 3 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.30.
Havering catering services have issued a price increase and school dinners are now priced at £2.30.
Please be reminded that your child’s sQuid account should be topped up at all times. We cannot provide dinners for pupils whose accounts exceed a debt of £10.
