Weekly Newsletter - Friday 11th June

Headteacher: Mrs L Nichols

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome back. We hope you have all had a fantastic half term with your families. It is hard to believe that we are now into the last half term of the year and we are starting preparations for moving up to the next year groups and hopefully start to get back to, dare I say it, normal! We hope that the children will enjoy all of the upcoming events this summer, even though they look different to how we normally do things.

Year 5&6 Residential - Mersea Island

Before the half term break, year 5&6 pupils visited Mersea Island. The year 6 pupils had to suffer a small amount of rainfall (the sun did poke through the clouds at times) and the year 5 group were luckier and enjoyed some beautiful sunshine. However, they all had a wonderful time. Congratulations to each and everyone of you for committing to all of the activities with a smile on your face. We know that some of you faced your fears during your time in Mersea but fear is nothing but an obstacle that stands in the way of progress. In overcoming your fears you all moved forward stronger and wiser and we are all very proud of you. A huge thank you to our amazing staff who encouraged and supported the pupils and kept them safe while they were away from their families.

Summer Sun

Summer has, eventually arrived and I hope that you are now all enjoying the warmer weather. I would like to ask all parents to ensure that children have sun protection applied before they arrive at school. . It is also recommended that children bring caps/hats into school to wear during outdoor times. We will ensure that pupils have access to plenty of water throughout the day to keep them fully hydrated. Thank you for your support and co-operation in this matter.

Class Photographs

Carmel Jane Photography will be attending the school on 18th of May 2021, to take the class portraits. All Parents must pre-register, before the photography date above.

This is important as it enables you to gain quick access to your child's photographs and the opportunity to purchase them.

To do this, you will need to go to www.carmeljaneshop.co.uk  and enter the following code:

JRTSG3D

You will then be asked to pre-register with your child's full school register name.

By pre registering, when the photos are ready you will receive an automatic email notification to inform you, your child's photos are now ready to be viewed and purchased. You will then be able to create your account or if you already have an account, please log in to view your child’s images.

All orders will be sent to your home address free of charge in a 2-week window.

Don't miss out pre-register today!

Euros 2021

Just for fun this half term, we are going to hold an inter-class draw for the Euros 2021. The classes will follow the progress of their team throughout the competition and learn a little bit about the country at the same time. We will be holding a Euros 2021 day on Monday 21st June when the children can wear the colours of their countries.  The draw will be held today and classes informed of their country. All very exciting!

Transition
This week the children have started to think about moving up into the next year group. Each class have been devising a set of questions to ask the pupils in the year group above and next week they will be receiving the answers from their peers. This is the first part of our preparations for moving on. We will be providing the pupils with more activities and opportunities to prepare for the next stage of their learning over the coming weeks.

School Chef of the Year

Our wonderful school cook Michelle, has reached the regional final for School Chef of the year for the fourth year running. She spent the day at the regional finals yesterday cooking up a delicious and mouth watering menu. Michelle has won the regional finals twice and gone on to represent the region at the national event. Yesterday she came runner up but there is still a chance that she will get to the national finals in October as a wild card. We are keeping our fingers crossed for you Michelle. Well done!

Week beginning Monday 14th June is week 2 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.30.
