Worldly Wise Curriculum - a part of our curriculum entitlement
The Roman soldiers would have been dressed in full battle armour and trained to hop up and down a 100 foot-long series of squares that had been scratched into the ground to improve their strength and agility.
These sort of interesting facts are what the children learn about in our Worldly Wise Assemblies.
Every week, pupils attend an interactive 'Worldly Wise' assembly where they build and grow their own body of general knowledge. By knowing a little about a lot they will be able to place events and ideas in context in a variety of different situations.
This half term we will continue to explore 'playground games'.
We believe that education is about more than academic progress: it is about empowering every child to thrive in an ever-changing world.
Children are encouraged to go home and do some research themselves, write an interesting fact down and give it to their teacher. This will then be shared in assembly; they will be awarded with a certificate and become a true 'Fact Hunter'.
