Weekly Newsletter - Friday 15th September, 2023

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

School  Time

We would like to remind you that school times have changed which means that pupils must arrive in school and be collected at slightly different times than before.
The new school hours are from 8.45 am to 3.15 pm.
This is so that we meet the government's proposal of pupils being in school for 32.5 hours every week. We want to ensure that your child gets the most out of their education and attending school consistently plays a large role in this. To make sure they are punctual and ready for class, please plan ahead for the new schedule, which started at the beginning of this c=academic year.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.

Curriculum Letters
Year group leaders and teachers will be sending home curriculum letters by the end of today. This will give you vital information regarding what your child will be learning this term. If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact us via the usual communication methods.

Parents Forum
We have tried to run the parent forum in many different ways and in the past have had representatives from classes and year groups and run open meetings for any parent to attend. We are going to trial a different system this year and use parent forum times as drop in sessions. There are specific dates throughout the year when myself and other members of the leadership team will be available to any member of our parent community if they would like to discuss individual issues or offer any feedback. I hope that many of you will be take us up on the offer and drop into the school office for a chat on the following dates;
13th October @ 9am
8th December @ 1pm
9th February @ 9am
22nd March @ 1pm
17th May @ 9am
12th July @ 1pm
We look forward to seeing you there.

Year 6 Parents

As your child is now in Year 6, now is the time that you will need to make an application for your child to start secondary school in September 2024.

Without an application your child will not be offered a Secondary school place.

Please visit the Havering website www.havering.gov.uk/admissions/secondary where you will find a brochure titled  ‘Transferring to a Havering Secondary School in September 2024’ along with a short presentation video which explains the application process and answers some of the most common questions asked by parents. You will also find a link to the application system (eAdmissions).

All applications for Secondary Schools must be submitted online by no later than 31 October 2023.

Year 5 Parents

At this time of year the Secondary schools invited parents to come and look around schools and hear from staff what they can offer your child. You can find all of the dates for open evenings around Havering here

After School Clubs

Please apply for after school club places via the link below. These are the clubs that are offered by school staff and not the Essex After School child care option. Applications close TODAY.
