Weekly Newsletter - Friday 8th December, 2023

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

Christmas Concerts

A big thank you to all parents / carers who came along to support the children’s Christmas concerts this week. I am sure you will agree with me that all of the children sang brilliantly, danced beautifully and read and acted like true professionals. There were also some stellar solo performances.  We hope that you enjoyed watching the concerts as much as we did. Well done to all pupils and staff involved.

Fundraising

Our first Christmas fayre was a huge success and thank you to everyone who came along and supported the event. The children loved visiting Santa and playing all of the festive games. Edie guessed the name of the Elf Ember, and was thrilled to take him home and lots of lucky people have collected their raffle prizes. It was a wonderful festive event and together we raised £2895.53 which is an amazing amount! Thank you so much for supporting Broadford and helping us to raise this fabulous amount.
This takes our fundraising total to £8025.49 so far this year. A special thank you to our admin team and staff who make all of these events happen.

This week we have collected £509.03 from your very generous donations after our Christmas concerts. Thank you, this will be added to our fundraising and is very much appreciated.
We are looking forward to sharing our plans for spending the money very soon.

Cost of Living - A message from London Borough of Havering

Havering recognises that as the cost of living continues to rise across the country, our residents are going to be feeling the pinch this winter.

The Council’s new cost of living online hub brings together all of the support available to residents – from financial help with food and energy bills to free school holiday meals and mental health.
The website contains links to the Havering Helps assistance scheme, details of warm spaces, council tax support, debt management services, energy grants, food banks and community hubs, as well as online benefits calculators so residents can be sure they’re receiving all the support they are entitled to.
The Council will also publish details of any new support schemes, both local and national, in the Living in Havering email bulletin.

Last Week of clubs
Today is the last day of after school clubs. Please keep your eyes peeled next week for the Spring term club applications. There are no after school clubs week beginning 11th December.

Christmas Dinner

Week beginning 11th December pupils have the opportunity to enjoy Christmas dinner in school. This will be served to different year groups on different days. This is so that pupils can eat their Christmas dinner in the hall and enjoy a festive experience. Due to the fact that the kitchen will be cooking over 300 Christmas dinners daily there will be a different menu for the rest of the school on their non Christmas dinner day please see below.

Christmas dinner will be roast turkey with the trimmings and there is also a vegetarian option which is festive and vegetarian sausage puff.

Wednesday 13th - Early years, years 1 & 2

Thursday 14th - Years 3,4,5 & 6

Children can wear Christmas jumpers and headwear on their Christmas dinner day if they would like to.

On your child's non Christmas dinner day the kitchen will be preparing a cold service consisting of tuna, cheese or ham baguettes. These will be ordered via sQuid as normal.

Christmas Parties

There will be Festive Parties for children in Nursery, Reception and years 1-6 on Monday 18th December. You don’t need to send in party clothes or food. The pupils can wear their school uniform but they are very welcome to bring in a festive jumper (and headwear if you have it) to wear for the occasion.  We will also provide all the food for them too.

We finish school on Tuesday 19th December. School opens again on Thursday 4th January  – Breakfast Club at 7.45am – with the doors opening from 8.30am and breakfast bagels will be available in the classrooms.
