Weekly Newsletter - Friday 7th June, 2024

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

Welcome back. We hope you have all had a fantastic half term with your families. It is hard to believe that we are now into the last half term of the year and we are starting preparations for moving up to the next year groups. We know that the children will enjoy all of the upcoming events for the rest of this summer term.

Summer Fete

We are looking forward to our summer fete which is being held on Saturday 15th June, 11am - 3pm. Next week we will be selling raffle tickets which are priced at £3 per strip or 2 strips for £5. There are a variety of prizes on offer including, a BBQ hamper, toy hampers, cosmetic sets and chocolates.

We will also be selling wristbands for the bouncy castles. Wristbands are priced as follows;

All day bouncing - Pre order £10 or £12 on the day.

£6 for 1 hour of bouncing

A decision regarding weather and if the bouncy castles will go ahead will be made on Thursday 13th June. Refunds will only be applicable if the bouncy castles are cancelled due to the weather.

There will be many other stalls, entertainment and games to play on the day. We look forward to seeing you there.

Fathers’ Day Sale
We will be holding our annual Fathers’ day sale on Monday 10th, Wednesday 12th and Friday 14th June. Items will be on sale priced at £3 each, pupils will be able to pick out a present for Dad’s, Grandad’s Uncles or older brothers. The stall will be set up at the front of the school outside of the office from 3.15 - 3.45 pm on each day.

Transition
Next week the children are going to start thinking  about moving up into the next year group. Each class will be devising a set of questions to ask the pupils in the year group above and the week after next they will be receiving the answers from their peers. This is the first part of our preparations for moving on. We will be providing the pupils with more activities and opportunities to prepare for the next stage of their learning over the coming weeks.

Professional Sportsman Visit

On Thursday 20th June, professional basketball player Pierre Henry Fontaine will be visiting Broadford Primary School. Each class will be completing several exercises with him at some point during the day. Your child has been given a letter as there is the option to sponsor your child for this (with the money raised being split between the sporting company and our school). Please could any sponsorship money and forms be returned to Miss Wyatt by Wednesday 12th June 2024

Polling Day - Thursday 4th July
As I am sure you are all aware the Prime Minister has called a general election on Thursday 4th July. The school will be closed for pupils on this day due to being a polling station but activities will be set for pupils to complete at home. The year 1 Barleylands trip will go ahead as planned but sports afternoon for children in years 2,3 and 4 has been rescheduled to Tuesday 9th July.
The school council will be organising a mock election in school for all pupils to take part in, this is in keeping with our commitment to fostering a sense of civic engagement and democratic values.
