Weekly Newsletter - Friday 7th November

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News

I hope that you all enjoyed the half term break with friends and family. We are all looking forward to a busy and fun packed half term.

Winter is Coming!

As we return from the half term break, the air is crisper and the temperature is dropping. Please remember that children will go outside everyday and will require coats, hats, scarves, gloves and appropriate footwear, which should all be named.
We would also encourage pupils to bring into school a pair of indoor shoes or slippers that they can change into once inside. If shoes get wet and muddy they will then have a pair of clean and warm shoes and will be more comfortable. This will also help us to keep the classrooms cleaner for children to learn in.
Many thanks for your co-operation with this.

Poppy Appeal
We are pleased to announce that the yearly poppy appeal boxes have arrived in school and will be coming around to classes  until next week.
Please send donations in with the children in the mornings if you wish for them to purchase Remembrance merchandise. Donations for items are between 50p and £2.00.
Prefects will be visiting classrooms so that pupils have the opportunity to purchase merchandise.

Attendance
Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week: Let’s Start the Year Right!

As we kick off this half term, we’re excited to introduce our ‘Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week', on Monday 10th November!

This special initiative is designed to encourage everyone to embrace the importance of being on time, remembering our 'Pupil Job 1', while having a bit of fun along the way.

Pupil Job 1 - Come to school every day on time

Parent responsibility - Ensure that your child arrives for school on time, every day and ready to learn.

Weekly Attendance  Target 96%
Here’s how it works:
๐Ÿ“…Daily Prize Draw

Each day of the week, if you arrive at school on time, your name will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a delightful bag of treats! The more days you arrive on time, the more chances you have to win! It’s a simple and fun way to motivate everyone to prioritise punctuality.

๐Ÿฝ️Early Bird Breakfast Treat on Friday:

As an extra incentive, we’ll be hosting a ‘special early bird breakfast treat’ this Friday for all children who arrive by 8:45 AM. Collect your treat from outside the main office before you head off to your classroom.  It’s our way of saying thank you for your commitment to being on time and starting the day off right!

๐ŸŽ‰Whole Class Treat:

We want to elevate the excitement even further! Any class that achieves amazing attendance and/or perfect punctuality for the entire week will receive a special whole-class treat. So, encourage one another and show your commitment to being present and punctual!

Let’s make a fantastic start to this half term by showing our commitment to attendance and punctuality. Remember, arriving on time not only helps you settle in for a successful day of learning, it also sets a great example for your peers.

We are excited to see all of you bright and early, ready to learn and participate. Let’s set a positive tone for the rest of the year and build the habits that will lead us to success!

Best of luck to all, and let the attendance challenge begin!

Donations
If you have had a little clear out and declutter during the half term break, we are in desperate need of girls and boys socks and t-shirts. During these winter months we need lots of spares in school for when children get dirty and require changing.
Any donations would be greatly appreciated.

Reception Admissions September 2026

If your child is looking to join our school in Reception 2026, it is vital that your application is completed by 15th January 2025 or it is likely you miss out. Last year we had 290 applications for just 90 places. Even with a 3 form intake, we have more expressions of interest than we have places – YOU MUST APPLY! Attending our Nursery will have no impact on your application. Many parents mistakenly believe that a place in the Nursery = a place in Reception… it doesn’t!

Please see the London Borough of Havering website for further information on how to apply.
