Charlie The Digger Man

In an effort to get the oversized sand pit finished before the end of the Easter holidays, our builders employed some expert help. Charlie was very nimble with the controls and dug a huge trench in just moments! Well done Charlie. Thanks to you, there is every chance that we will be able to start beach volleyball lessons as soon as we come back from the holidays.

Congratulations to Faringdon (Red) who have managed to win the House Point trophy this week! As a result of their consistent performances week after week, Yellow (Dulverton) have managed to lift the House Trophy for the cake and drink prize. There were plenty of elated children in Dulverton House devouring the snacks as a reward for their politeness and smart uniforms.

Tracker Awards

Ramone Holme Slater, Abyan Abidin and Jessica Simpson have now put the last merit sticker on their Bronze cards. Jude Gore, Lola Trinder, Katrina Weaver & Jacob Owsley have completed their Silver Trackers.

Emily Morton has got her hands on the Golden Bookmark! Sophie Hann, Kye Smethurst & Prince Onwuegbuzie have finished their Platinum Trackers and starts their Diamond.

Tesco Visit Year 1

Tesco have recently launched a new project Farm to Fork. It is designed to help children learn more about what goes into their food, to inspire and encourage them to get cooking. Have a look at their website, where they feature recipes for children aged 4-11 to give them hands-on experience of how to prepare and cook meals from scratch. 

Plus, there are helpful activities that will excite children and spark interest in learning all about food from an educational perspective.

Last week the Tesco representative came in to speak to the Year 1 children about how their fruit and vegetables get from the farm to the store. Our children got to taste a variety of foods (see the image below). Year 2 had the opportunity to visit the Tesco store at Gallows Corner the week before. They saw how the bread was baked on site and how lorries are unloaded.

Weekly Winners: MDA & Sporting Achievement

Well done to the following pupils for their outstanding sporting exploits:

Harry Hinton - recorded the best bleep test score out of the whole school, even though he is only in Year 5.

Abbie Maxwell - for her brilliant performance in the recent netball playoff game. She showed great team spirit and keep encouraging her team mates from the first whistle to the last

Chloe Trew - for all round sporting excellence. Chloe has done well in every activity set by Mr Clark and Miss Cook. She cheers on other pupils and always does her best!

Super Athletes

Once again Isaac and Terrika have shown that they have great athletic potential. In another one of their running clubs competitions, both of them managed to win a medal for their efforts. Isaac did the long jump, 60m and 200m. Terrika opted for the hurdles instead of the long jump.

Hopefully, by the end of the Easter holiday, we will have the large sand pit ready. Isaac can then give us a masterclass in how to leap like a salmon.
