Weekly News

Football Results:
After a challenging first season, where results were hard to come by, there has been a marked improvement in our footballing performances. There is a good blend of experienced Year 6 players, with a fresh set of legs from Year 5. So far we have beaten Mead Primary 3-2 but this has been followed by two more victories this week! First the boys demolished Pyrgo 4-1 (away from home in the drizzle) followed by a 4-1 win against Harold Court (a home match). These victories have been achieved with three very different teams, so it is a real whole squad contribution.

Although every game has seen performances where the whole team has worked together, there have been some stand out performances. Notably, Fletcher Marney has scored 6 goals in two games this week! Twice he has managed to get a hat trick. We’ve seen him score poacher’s goals, volleys and cool one on ones. Donavan Wright played a brave role in goal, even taking a gash on the leg to prevent the opposition scoring. Well done boys, the weekly practice is paying off!
Next week we have home games against Parklands (Tuesday night) and Godwin (Wednesday night)

This Week:
We have some exciting events lined up for next week. On Wednesday, 12 of our Year 3&4 pupils are going up to London to see the West End version of Mathilda. This is linked to their book club work, where they study a text and learn more about the book and other stories by the author. Already we are getting positive feedback from pupils and parents about how it is making them want to read more for enjoyment.

On Thursday we have Mike Spoor coming in to show the children how he illustrates stories. His specialty is dinosaur pictures. Children have been submitting ideas for their own dinosaur story, and these are to be turned into a book with illustrations from Mike Spoor.
