Fashion Artwork

Our budding artists started their latest project with a visit to the Victoria & Albert Museum. There they saw a fashion exhibit based on the works and creations of the designer Alexander McQueen.

We had to look carefully at his designs, sketch the outfits and note the different fabrics that had been used

The exhibition covered a whole range of different clothes, periods and fashions.

I particularly enjoyed the film and theatre production part of the show. But we also got to see clothes that have been worn by stars like Mick Jagger and Kylie Minogue!

Back at school the children had to create their own mood boards showing the colours and textures that they were going to try and use for their designs.

This was also a great opportunity for the children to apply their mathematical skills. They had to design repeating textile patterns and use their measuring skills to cut and shape the fabric.

Just going to the museum was a fabulous experience...
100% of the pupils had never visited the V&A Museum before
85% strongly agreed that they were now more interested in the design process as a consequence of this experience

Make sure you pay a visit to the life size display in the Junior corridor.
