Weekly Newsletter - Friday 13th July, 2018

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been a very busy week in school with day trips out, go bonkers day, leavers’ events and performances. Thank you to every parent and carer who supported the pupils and attended these events. It doesn’t stop there, next week the celebrations continues. Please see the diary dates for what we have planned next!

After School Clubs
Today, Friday 13th July, is the last day for after school clubs. Mrs Chance and Mrs Charlesworth will be sending information out regarding new clubs in September.

Congratulations!
I am absolutely thrilled to announce that both our KS1 and KS2 spelling teams won the annual Drapers’ Spelling Bee. Both teams competed against other cluster schools to win the prestigious title of the ‘The Best Spellers on the HIll!’. We are extremely proud of all of you. Well done!

Diary Dates
On Monday 16th the Harry Potter book club have the opportunity to watch the final film in the series. On Monday evening there will be an opportunity for parents to come in and meet with class teachers regarding pupil reports. Please sign up outside your child’s classroom if you would like an appointment.
On Tuesday 17th, pupils will get the chance to meet their new teachers and classes in the morning whilst year 6 enjoy pupils vs teachers sport games. I wonder who will win! Pupils in years 5 & 6 Freshstart group are going to Hornchurch to paint pottery, they have completely planned their own trip, we hope you enjoy yourselves. Reception parents and carers are invited to the Reception picnic stay and play from 12.00pm and in the afternoon we have a thank you tea party for our volunteers this year.
On Wednesday 18th, the winning team of the summer term Premier reading league will be going on their reward trip.
On Thursday 19th at 10 am the final acts in ‘Broadford’s Got Talent’ will be battling it out for the title of overall winner! Good luck to everyone involved. On Thursday afternoon we will be presenting the pupils with end of year awards.
At 3.00pm school finishes for the summer break.

Reports and Parents Evening
Your child’s end of year report will be sent home today. If you would like to discuss the report with your child’s class teacher then please sign up for an appointment on the timetable by the classroom door. In the report envelope, there is a feedback form which we would ask all parents to complete and send back to school by the end of the term. We warmly welcome your feedback and would love to hear if there is anything you feel we could improve. Many thanks.

Meet the New Teachers and Classes
On Tuesday 17th July, all pupils will have the opportunity to meet their new teachers and visit their new classrooms. Pupils will be bringing home a letter on Tuesday evening regarding who their new teacher will be for your information.

Summer Activities
Worried about how to keep your children occupied in the summer holidays. there are lots of activities going on in and around the local area. Please visit WWW.HAVERING.GOV.UK/HOLIDAYACTIVITIES  

Havering Catering Services
Week beginning Monday 16th July is week 3 on the Havering catering services menu. All meals are served with unlimited salad and vegetables and cost £2.20.

These are the key skills that our children will need to learn effectively in class and to be successful later in life.
These children have demonstrated effective Reciprocity this week – able to listen carefully, work collaboratively and take turns.
