Weekly Newsletter - Friday 6th July, 2018

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Sports Afternoon
A big thank you to all parents and carers who attended our sports afternoons this week. The heatwave that we are currently experiencing ensured that sun was shining, even if it was very hot! Everyone enjoyed themselves and there was a wonderful sense of sportsmanships from all of the participants. Thank you also to the staff for organising and preparing the pupils for the event.

LFPA Summer Fete
Anyone who attended the LFPA summer fete last week will know what a fantastic event it was. I would like to extend my thanks to the LFPA who worked really hard to organise it and raised in excess of £800 to support the schools. Well done to all of the organisers and volunteers on the day.

Diary Dates
On Monday 9th Year 6 are going to the Barbican to watch a concert by the London Symphony Orchestra. Year 5 boys who have been part of the ‘Stepping Up’ boys outdoor activities program have their final session today.
Tuesday 10th is ‘Go Bonkers’ day. There will be 12 large inflatables on the school field for all the pupils to enjoy. Any pupils who are in the 96+% club for attendance will enjoy extra bouncing time for their efforts throughout the year. Cathy Forrester our school nurse will be running her drop in session on Tuesday morning and will be at the office from 8.30 am.
KS1 & 2 choirs and dance clubs will be sharing their work on Wednesday morning at the clubs sharing assembly. I believe we will also have performance from pupils who are learning to play the guitar and piano. It is proving to be an amazing assembly. On Wednesday after school year 6 will be enjoying their farewell BBQ and leavers event. We invite all parents and carers of year 6 pupils to join us at this event and bring along your tissues!
On Thursday 12th July, year 3 are visiting the Orbit at Stratford. Some of our pupils will be going to compete at Drapers’ Academy in the annual spelling bee. Good Luck to all involved! Year 6 pupils will be performing their leaving production of ‘A Quest for Arthur’, we are looking forward to seeing many parents and carers at the performance. The Harry Potter book club will be competing against Mead pupils in the final Quiddith round of the HP quiz.
On Friday 13th, we finish the week with LAMDA examinations and year 5 Fiver Challenge sale.
Phew! Please look out for all of the above stories on the school blog.

Summer Activities
Worried about how to keep your children occupied in the summer holidays. there are lots of activities going on in and around the local area. Please visit WWW.HAVERING.GOV.UK/HOLIDAYACTIVITIES

Reports
We are sure that you appreciate that the reporting on the progress and attainment of over 600 pupils is a significant task. We need additional time to acquire all of the assessment information required to complete this reporting process.  Reports are now expected to be released on Friday 13th so parents still have time to read them prior to the parents evening on the 16th July.
Thank you for your understanding.
