Dear Parents and Carers,
Number Rock Out day!
It has been amazing to see all of our mini rockstars in school today. Our rock legends have played to an arena and challenged each other to some Rock Slams! AND learned their times tables and improved their number knowledge along the way. What a way to end the week. Look out for the photographs and the blogs on the school website, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram accounts!
After School Clubs
After school clubs for KS2 pupils will recommence after half term, week beginning 7th June. The clubs will run for 6 weeks with the final session taking place on Friday 19th July. As we are still currently following government guidance we only have time and space to offer clubs to KS2 pupils.
The pupils will participate in year group bubbles and each year group have been allocated a specific day each week.
Monday - Year 5 - Football or art & craft
Tuesday - Year3 - Football or hama beads
Thursday - Year 6 - Football or art & craft
Friday - Year 4 - Football or hama beads
If your child is participating in a football club, please ensure they come to school in PE kit on their club day.
All clubs have been previously allocated and will remain the same. If your child can no longer attend or your child hasn’t been given a club and you would like to add their name to the waiting list then please email via the office and write ‘After School Clubs’ in the subject line. office@broadford.havering.sch.uk
Your child will bring home a letter next week to confirm which club they have been allocated.
Eid Day
The school curriculum should provide pupils with a range of experiences that deepen their spiritual understanding of their school and their community as well as other communities. By their developing awareness children will learn to treat each other with respect. On Friday 14th May we are going to learn about the festival of Eid, which is also known as “The Festival of Breaking the Fast” and marks the end of the month-long dawn-to-sunset fasting of Ramadan. All pupils will participate in activities throughout the day and learn about this important day that is celebrated by many members of our school community. We would like all staff and pupils to dress in colourful clothes for the day the brighter the better.
We are looking forward to the special event on Friday 14th May.
Charity Donations
Many of you will be aware that over the past year we have had pupils and families in our school community who are battling and coming to terms with the effects of Cancer. Throughout this summer term, as a school we would like to participate in events to raise awareness and money for a charity who particularly work with and support children who have been affected by Cancer. Therefore, if you are able to contribute, we are asking for a small donation of 50p per child or £1 per family to go towards our chosen charity for Eid day. Our chosen charity is Lennox Children’s Cancer Fund.
We are also planning on holding a sponsored event later in the term.
Parent/Carer surveys
We love to read your feedback and hear about what you think we do well, and also how we may be able to improve. The pandemic has caused significant disruption to us all and as a school, we have not been able to provide many of the additional opportunities that we would like to. However, we would be grateful if you would take the time to complete the survey - It should take no more than 2-3 minutes and is open until Friday 21st May. Thank you!
