Weekly Newsletter - Friday 17th December, 2021

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Wishing you a very Merry Christmas & Happy New Year
Who knew that we would still be dealing with Covid during the autumn term of 2021. I naively thought that we would be over this already. Uncertainty is all around us, never more so than today. Whether it concerns a global pandemic, the economy, or finances, health, and relationships, much of what lies ahead in life remains uncertain. What I can be certain of is that as a school we will continue to do our best for our pupils everyday. Your children are very lucky to have a team of staff who are here to support them and work to ensure that they have the best chance to succeed in school.

I am delighted to say that 81% year 2 pupils reached the expected level in the phonics screening test this week. This is brilliant and a testament to the hard work of the year 2 staff and due to the creativeness and hard work of the previous year 1 and reception teams who found other ways to educate these pupils in the middle of a pandemic!

We have no idea what the new year will bring. It may bring more uncertainty but what I am certain of that we  will all continue to work together for the good of our pupils!

I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a fabulous new year. I look forward to welcoming all of the pupils back to school on Wednesday 6th January, 2022.

First Day of 2022

We are looking forward to seeing all children back at school in January 2022. School opens again on Wednesday 5th January for all pupils.  Breakfast Club at 7.45am – with the gates opening from 8.30am for all other pupils.

Thank you!

Your generous donations in the Christmas Bucket  at the end of each performance last week  have raised £625 and the Christmas film nights raised £980. This will go towards purchasing new equipment in the outdoor areas for our Opal project. Voluntary contributions on Christmas Jumper day raised £187 which will go to the very worthy charity Save the Children, Thank you.

Housepoint Reward

I am thrilled to say that red house (Farringdon) are the autumn term winners! They have earned the most housepoints during this term and enjoyed a school disco on Monday afternoon. Well done to all of the members of red house for displaying pupil job number 3 - being kind and polite to everyone that they meet.

Attendance News!

I am delighted to announce the winners of the attendance league for the Autumn term - Almond class! They enjoyed their reward breakfast this morning. Congratulations to all of the pupils in Almond who have remembered their number one job of coming to school every day.
