Weekly Newsletter - Friday 6th May, 2022

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Young Voices

The choir visited the 02 arena this week and sang in the Young Voices choir with 7000 other singers. The children had a fabulous time, singing at the top of their voices and dancing the night away. We are already counting down the days till the next concert.

End of Key Stage Statutory Assessments

During the month of May the year 2 pupils will be working extremely hard and teachers have been carrying out assessments to demonstrate the pupils’ attainment at the end of key stage 1. We look forward to being able to report the  results of these assessments later this term.

Year 6 statutory assessments start on Monday 9th. All year 6 pupils are invited to a breakfast club which will give them an opportunity to relax before the assessments start. They will feel raring to go after a good breakfast. Good luck to all of our pupils, they have worked very hard and we are proud of each and everyone of you.

Parents Forum

As always, we love to hear feedback from parents, and we are thrilled to be able to re-introduce our parent forum meetings after a few years of not being able to meet together. This is an opportunity for us to be able to discuss ideas with our parent/carer community and gain the views of parents across the school. We would like to recruit one parent per class or three across each year group and then we can be sure that the views of parents across the school are being heard. We will be hosting a short introductory meeting this term and start planning for September. If you would like to volunteer to represent parents in your child’s class/year group and you feel that you are able to commit to an hour or so each term, please register your interest here
We are particularly looking for volunteers in year groups 2 and 4.

Free school Meals
May half-term 2022 School Holiday Meal Scheme
The scheme allows eligible families to receive £15 per child to purchase food over the holiday period to replace the meals a child would have received during a school day helping us ensure no child goes hungry during the upcoming school holiday period.
Please note that Havering issue this amount via a bank transfer and do not issue meal vouchers as part of the scheme.

You do not need to reapply if you have received money via the scheme previously. The funds will be automatically paid into your nominated bank account during the week commencing Monday 23 May 2022.

New claims

You can make a new claim if:

  • you did not apply during any previous application periods

  • you were not previously eligible however your circumstances have changed and now are eligible

  • you would like to claim for additional children who you have claimed for previously but were not eligible at the time

  • you would like to claim for additional children who you’ve not applied for in the past

  • We recommend you check that you meet the eligibility criteria below before submitting your application.

The scheme will open to receive applications from 9am on Friday 6 May 2022, and closes at 5pm on Thursday 12 May 2022.

Eligible families who apply for the School Holiday Meal Scheme and have not received payment via the scheme in the past are expected to receive payments during the week commencing Monday on 23 May 2022.
If further eligibility checks are required, this may delay payment.

Year 6 Tuition
We would like to inform you that next week will be the last week of tutoring for year 6 pupils, there will be no more year 6 tutoring sessions after May 13th. We would like to thank you for your continued support throughout the time that your child attended tutoring and we hope they enjoyed their sessions.

Summer Sun

We are very lucky to be experiencing some warmer weather again. I would like to ask all parents to ensure that children have sun protection applied before they arrive at school. It is also recommended that children bring caps/hats into school to wear during outdoor times. We will ensure that pupils have access to plenty of water throughout the day to keep them fully hydrated. Thank you for your support and co-operation in this matter.
