Rock Stars Times Tables
We are very excited to hold another Rock Star Times Tables day for the beginning of England Rocks! Maths week.
The times tables competition will be held between Monday 14th November - Wednesday 16th November. There will be certificates for the 3 most valuable players in each year group at the end of the competition. So it’s time to rock out with your times tables!
On Monday 14th November, children and teachers can come to school dressed as rock stars to hype up the competition.
We look forward to seeing all the rock gods and air guitarists in their best costumes to kick start the competition.
Stay & Learn
This half term we are looking forward to inviting parents of the following year groups into school for their stay and learn session.
Parent Forum
It was a pleasure to meet with a group of parents on Monday morning to discuss various school issues.
We discussed data around how many different religions there are in our school to ensure that we are celebrating and including all members of our community.
We looked at the parent survey results from before half term and though overwhelmingly positive, there are areas for us to work on. Many parents feel that we could provide extra information in regards to homework. The links below will take you to blog posts regarding homework.
Homework
Year 1&2 Homework Bingo
Years 3-6 Homework Worldly Wise
Together, we reviewed the school uniform policy and a copy of this is attached to this email for your information. The school uniform suppliers will also be selling school fleeces again this year. It was also suggested that we run another uniform swap shop and we are planning this again for the spring term.
I am very pleased to inform you that the school kitchen, starting next week, will be offering a halal chicken option. Whenever there is a chicken dish on the lunch menu there will always be a halal option available for those pupils who follow a halal diet.
The parent forum will be meeting again in the Spring term on 27th February. If you would like to join us it would be wonderful to have more members to provide feedback to us as a school. Please email office@broadford.havering.sch.uk to express your interest.
Donations
We would like donations of any socks, tights or underwear that your children have grown out of home to help us when we need to change pupils in school. If your child has been changed into spare clothes at school please return them asap.
We are also looking for any donations of shin pads for pupils who are attending our new after school club.
Many thanks in advance for all of your co-operation.
Shared mailboxes and communication
In these uncertain times, please remember that the main method of communication with your child’s class teacher is via the shared mailboxes. They are checked daily and can be used to ask questions, pass on information or check details:

Prospective Parents Tour
There is an opportunity for prospective parents to come and have a look around the school on Monday . If you know of anyone who would like to tour the school in the hopes of their children attending, please ask them to book a place via the school office.
Reception Admissions September 2023
If your child is looking to join our school in Reception 2023, it is vital that your application is completed by 15th January 2023 or it is likely you miss out. Last year we had over 220 applications for just 90 places. Even with a 3 form intake, we have more expressions of interest than we have places – YOU MUST APPLY! Attending our Nursery will have no impact on your application. Many parents mistakenly believe that a place in the Nursery = a place in Reception… it doesn’t!
Please see the London Borough of Havering website for further information on how to apply.
S.M.I.L.E Christmas Appeal
Many children will not receive anything from Father Christmas this year as they are living below the breadline. Therefore S.M.I.L.E are providing shoe boxes full of treats and delivering them to families who need the most support. Every year the numbers of families in need grow, and as a result of this they are always in need of donations from our community to fulfil this Christmas miracle.
