Weekly Newsletter - Friday 30th June, 2023

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Dear Parents and Carers,

Part 1 Broadford News
Sports Afternoons

Reception, year 1&2 - Monday 3rd July @ 2.00pm
Year 3&4 - Tuesday 4th July @ 2.00pm
Year 5&6 - Thursday 6th July @ 2.00pm
Nursery - Friday 7th July @ 9am & 12.15pm

Next week we are inviting parents to join us for sports events to cheer on the pupils and celebrate their sportsmanship. Please see the arrangements and expectations below.

  • On their sports day, pupils must wear the school PE kit to school (navy blue shorts, plain white t-shirt with or without the Broadford logo, trainers or plimsolls and a sun hat). Sunscreen must be applied before school and children should bring a water bottle with them.

  • Please arrive on the allocated date and time and wait at the grey double doors to the left of the main school office.

  • The doors will be opened at 2.00pm and our year 6 prefects will be waiting to show you to the school field where the pupils will be ready to start.

  • If you arrive late and the sports event has already started, you may not be able to access the field, please arrive on time.

  • We would like to remind you that you are welcome to take photos of your own child. Please do not take videos or photographs of the whole class or groups of children and share them on social media. Not every parent gives permission for their children’s photographs to be shared on the internet. Class teachers will be taking photographs and will share these on the schools social media platforms for pupils who we have parental permission to do so.

  • Please encourage and cheer all pupils during the event.

  • Once the event has finished all pupils will go back to their classrooms to get ready to go home and you can wait for your child to be dismissed at their classroom door as usual.

We look forward to welcoming many of you next week which I have no doubt will be a wonderful event!

School Photographs

Class photographs are ready. If you have not yet ordered a photograph, it’s not too late. Mrs West has emailed all parents this week with information on how to order if you haven’t yet done so. Alternatively, see Mrs West in the school office for all of the details on how to order.

Teachers Strike
I am sure that you are all aware that the NEU has called another Teacher's strike for 2 days on 5th and 7th July. All parents have been sent an email this week regarding arrangements on both days. Please check your inbox.

School Dinners
Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London has announced a new initiative that from September 2023 all primary aged pupils (from reception to year 6) will be entitled to free school meals. The universal free school meal offer has previously only been available for KS1 children. Our school cook, Michelle, is obviously predicting an increase in numbers. Therefore, to prepare for September the kitchen is running a free school meal day on Tuesday 4th July. On this day a school dinner will be free for all pupils. If you are going to take up this offer from September we ask that you order a school dinner for your child on Tuesday 4th July, at no cost to yourself but to support our planning going forward.
The menu will be as follow;
BBQ Chicken & Diced Potatoes, Cheesy Tomato Pasta, Crispy Vegetable Fingers and Raspberry Doughnut for dessert

Summer Fete
We are hosting our summer fete on Saturday 8th July from 11 am - 3pm. Looking forward to seeing you there.
Every afternoon next week we will be selling bouncy castle wristbands for £6 and raffle tickets, £3 a strip or 2 strips for £5 outside the main school office.

Uniform Vouchers
If your child is eligible for the pupil premium grant then you are able to request a voucher for uniform. Please send your requests to the office via email and for the attention of Mrs West. Many thanks.
