Weekly Newsletter - Friday 2nd February

Headteacher: Mrs L Nicholls

Part 1 Broadford News

Parents Evening

We are looking forward to welcoming all parents on Wednesday 14th or Thursday 15th February for parent consultation meetings. You will have the opportunity to meet with your child’s class teacher and find out how they are making progress towards the end of year expectations for their current year group. During your visit we will also be seeking your views on our stay & learn sessions and would appreciate your feedback on how we can develop these important shared learning events.

After School Clubs
Due to parents' evenings, there are no after school clubs on Wednesday 14th or Thursday 15th February. All pupils must be collected at 3.10 pm from their classrooms as normal. Clubs will continue till the end of the half term after these dates.

Number & Dress to Express Days
It has been wonderful to see so many children dressed as numbers today and engaging in mathematics activities. Today has been a celebration of all things number and a reminder to us all of the important reminder of how mathematical knowledge is a vital component regarding our future life chances. Next week on Thursday 8th February we are encouraging all students and staff to use clothing and colour to express themselves as part of Children’s mental health week. You can read all about it here.

Parent Forum Drop In
We have tried to run the parent forum in many different ways and in the past have had representatives from classes and year groups and run open meetings for any parent to attend. We are going to trial a different system this year and use parent forum times as drop in sessions. There are specific dates throughout the year when myself and other members of the leadership team will be available to any member of our parent community if they would like to discuss individual issues or offer any feedback. I hope that many of you will take us up on the offer and drop into the school office for a chat. The next parent drop in will be held next Friday 9th February @ 9 am at the school office.
We look forward to seeing you there.

Come to school everyday on time!
As you will already be aware this is our pupils number 1 job. There are still a number of pupils who arrive late every day and last week we spoke to the pupils in assembly about how much learning time they miss if they are late.
If your child is late every day for a week, they miss out on 1 hour and 15 minutes of essential learning. The first lessons of the day are usually phonics and or mental arithmetic. Both necessary skills for our future successful life chances.
From this week we are going to celebrate the classes with no lates in  our new ‘On time shout outs!’. If a class gets a shout out for 5 weeks they will earn themselves a special on time treat!
Learning starts as soon as school starts, being late means lost learning time, so make sure you are at school by 8.45 am. Shout outs start next week.

Half Term: Monday 19th - Friday 23rd February

The children’s last day this half term will be Friday 16th February and the second half of the Spring term resumes on Monday 26th  February. We look forward to children returning to school on Monday 26th February, the doors will open for breakfast club at 7.45 am and the doors will open for all other pupils at 8.30 am.
