Part 1 Broadford News

Happy New Year
Happy new year to you all and welcome back after the break, I hope you had a wonderful festive period. It was great to see the children coming back to school this week full of enthusiasm, ready for an exciting term. While this is a short term it is usually a very productive time, children know the routines and expectations and teachers are able to concentrate on children’s progress. We will be opening the door of the University of Broadford again this term and we know how much these activities are able to really capture the children’s imagination. I know that you will enjoy the opportunity to meet with your child’s teacher at the end of this half term to receive an update on their learning so far this year. We are all looking forward to a wonderful Spring term.

Attendance
Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week: Let’s Start the Year Right!

As we kick off the new school year, we’re excited to introduce our ‘Amazing Attendance and Perfect Punctuality Week', on Monday 13th January!

This special initiative is designed to encourage everyone to embrace the importance of being on time, remembering our 'Pupil Job 1', while having a bit of fun along the way.

Pupil Job 1 - Come to school every day on time

Parent responsibility - Ensure that your child arrives for school on time, every day and ready to learn.

Weekly Attendance  Target 96%
Here’s how it works:
📅Daily Prize Draw

Each day of the week, if you arrive at school on time, your name will be entered into a prize draw for a chance to win a delightful bag of treats! The more days you arrive on time, the more chances you have to win! It’s a simple and fun way to motivate everyone to prioritise punctuality.

🍽️Early Bird Breakfast Treat on Friday:

As an extra incentive, we’ll be hosting a ‘special early bird breakfast treat’ this Friday for all children who arrive by 8:45 AM. Collect your treat from outside the main office before you head off to your classroom.  It’s our way of saying thank you for your commitment to being on time and starting the day off right!

🎉Whole Class Treat:

We want to elevate the excitement even further! Any class that achieves amazing attendance and/or perfect punctuality for the entire week will receive a special whole-class treat. So, encourage one another and show your commitment to being present and punctual!

Let’s make a fantastic start to the school year by showing our commitment to attendance and punctuality. Remember, arriving on time not only helps you settle in for a successful day of learning, it also sets a great example for your peers.

We are excited to see all of you bright and early, ready to learn and participate. Let’s set a positive tone for the rest of the year and build the habits that will lead us to success!

Best of luck to all, and let the attendance challenge begin!

After School Clubs Spring 2025
Kindly submit your application by 3:30pm on Tuesday, 14th January. Spaces in each club are limited and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. You can choose one 1st choice and one 2nd choice of club. Each child will be allocated to one club. Please ensure that your child’s most preferred club is selected as the first choice to maximize their chances of securing it. Submit only one application per child. We recommend discussing club choices with your child before submitting the form, as once submitted, it cannot be altered.

Please note: There are no clubs available for Reception children.

Applications will close at 3:30pm on Tuesday, 14th January. To secure a place in a club, you must apply via this form, as the school office will no longer handle club allocations.

Please follow this link for Spring Clubs

School Uniform

It has been wonderful to see all of the pupils return to school looking very smart in their school uniform. Please be reminded that the school colours are navy blue and grey/black. All school uniform is available through Premier School Wear (http://www.khalsaschoolwear.co.uk). If you require any assistance with uniform please speak to Mrs West in the school office.

Newsletters 2025
As you are aware we try to be as paperless as we possibly can as a school. We want to reduce our carbon footprint so that we can create a better environment for the future and our children. The weekly newsletter will continue to be available via the school blog (accessed via the school website), the new Facebook page and will be emailed via the ParentPay system.

Please ensure that your details are up to date on the school system and if you have changed your email address or telephone number that you let us know as soon as possible.

Reception Admissions September 2025

If your child is looking to join our school in Reception 2025  it is vital that you get your application completed by 15th January 2025 or it is likely you will miss out. Last year we had over 220 applications for just 90 places. Even as a three form entry school, we have more expressions of interest than we have places – YOU MUST APPLY! Attending our Nursery will have no impact on your application. Many parents mistakenly believe that a place in the Nursery = a place in Reception… it doesn’t!

Shared mailboxes and communication

Don’t forget that you can contact staff using the shared mailboxes. They are checked daily and can be used to ask questions, pass on information or check details:

We are always happy to answer any questions you may have. I will be at the gate every morning for you to speak to in person. Most mornings you will also be able to find Mrs Stanley, Mrs Ward, Miss Estall, Mr Kearns or Mrs Wallis to help you with any enquiries. If you would prefer an appointment please call into the office to fix a time.

Winter is here!

There has definitely been a drop in temperature this week. The mornings are chillier and the air is much fresher! Please ensure that your child comes to school prepared for this weather everyday, even if they travel by car. The children do go outside everyday and some children have not brought coats to school this week. We only have a small amount of clothing to lend out so please send your child to school appropriately dressed for the weather.

New Staff
We are delighted to introduce our new members of staff to you.
Mrs Spoor and Mrs Kular who have both joined the year 6 teaching team. Mr Kearns has joined the leadership team as Assistant Headteacher for KS2.
I know you will join me in welcoming them to Broadford.
