Help Us Create a Wildlife Pond for Our Children 🌱🐸🐞

Dear Parents and Carers,

We’re very excited to be developing our new school wildlife pond! This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to learn about nature, habitats, and caring for living things first-hand.

At the moment, our pond is taking shape, but it still needs some finishing touches to make it safe, welcoming for wildlife, and accessible for the children to explore and enjoy.

What We Need

We are asking for donations of stones, gravel, and pebbles to:

  • Create shallow areas where children can safely observe pond life.

  • Build natural edges that will encourage frogs, insects, and plants to thrive.

  • Make the area secure, attractive, and easy for classes to use during outdoor learning sessions.

How You Can Help

  • If you have any spare gravel, small stones, or pebbles at home (perhaps left over from gardening or DIY projects), we would be so grateful if you could bring them into school. Every little bit will make a big difference!

  • If anybody would like to volunteer a little bit of time to help us with the pond project, please contact me; your support would be very welcome.

Our Vision

Here’s what we have so far (the plank is so wildlife have a way out):

And here are some examples of the kind of natural, child-friendly pond environment we’d love to create:

With your help, we can turn this space into a thriving mini-ecosystem that the children will enjoy for years to come.

Pop into the School Office or speak to Mrs Ward who will be more than happy to discuss.
