Big Pedal Reward - BMX Stunt Show

As a reward for the pupils efforts this term to increase the amount of them who cycle, scoot or walk to school, Mrs Nicholls arranged for a BMX stunt team to visit the school. During the 'Big Pedal' we recorded our best ever results and saw more children choosing a healthy way of travelling to school.

To further encourage this, the BMX team then put on a cycle workshop for pupils to teach them how to handle their bike safely.

Ian - the team leader - also had some very relevant messages for the children...

  • always set yourself ambitious targets... you must challenge yourself
  • work towards your goals a little bit every day. Constant practice and improvement is essential. (resilience)
  • learn from each other. Watch how friends and colleagues tackle problems and use that to help you improve (reciprocity)
  • don't be afraid to fail. Every mistake you make gives you a chance to learn something new (reflectiveness)
  • once you've accomplished your goal, set a new one.
The display was enjoyed by all and was a great way of bringing the 4Rs to life! Now just keep on peddaling.
