Dear Parents and Carers,


Diary Dates
On Monday 16th in the  afternoon our year 6 boys continue to step up with their outdoor pursuits course. The spinebreakers are hosting the book fair after school and it is the first parents’ evening.
Tuesday 17th is school photograph day. The pupils have an inter-house football competition to look forward to in the afternoon and after school it is the second evening of parents’ meetings and the final book fair.
On Wednesday 18th at 9.00 am, we have our first clubs sharing assembly of the year. Choir and dance clubs will be sharing their talents with the rest of the school. In the afternoon year 3 will be taking part in a healthy eating workshop which is lead by Warburton’s and the JTA’s are visiting the London Transport Museum.
On Thursday 19th, Reverend Richard Shorter will be leading the KS2 assembly. The Harry Potter book club will be competing in the Gryffindor round against Mead readers. The remainder of year 3 will be participating in their Warburton’s healthy eating workshop.
On Friday 20th, all pupils are invited to ride or scoot to school and bling up their bikes or scooters, prizes to be won! Year 6 have a cycling day. During the morning pupils will be celebrating the language of the term, which is Africans this term. At 3.00pm we break up for the half term holiday.


Parents Evening
We are looking forward to welcoming all parents on Monday 16th & Tuesday 17th October for parent consultation meetings. You will have the opportunity to meet your child’s new class teacher and find out how they have settled so far this year. The teachers will also explain the expectations for the end of the year your child. Your child’s class teacher will be sending home a confirmation of your appointment time today. During the evening, there will be refreshments available in the hall provided by the LFPA. Our year 6 prefects will also be on hand to show you to the classrooms and asking parents to complete our annual parent survey.
We are looking forward to seeing you all on Monday and Tuesday next week.


Year 5 Mersea Residential
Many thanks to all of the parents who were able to attend the information meeting regarding the Mersea residential trip. If you were unable to make it on this occasion then please see Miss Connell or a member of the year 5 team and they will ensure that you have all of the required information.


School Photographs - Tuesday 17th October
The photographer from Kittle is in school on Tuesday to take individual, family groups and sibling photographs for pupils from nursery to year 6. If you would like a family group / sibling photograph please use the side door and come to the hall at 8.30 am.
Make sure that your hair is brushed and teeth are clean then you will be ready for your close up.


Book Fair
This year our older spinebreakers are taking over the book fair and running the bookfair themselves. Please support the pupils by coming along and helping them to raise money to buy books for their reading development in school.  
The book fair will run from Friday 13th - Tuesday 17th October after school and will be in the hall. The first 15 people to purchase books from the fair will receive a goodie bag and one of those goodie bag contains a golden ticket worth £15. The lucky winner will be able to spend their voucher at the bookfair on Monday and Tuesday. All pupils are also invited to design a poster advertising the book fair. This must be returned to Mrs McFarlane in the library by Wednesday 11th October and one lucky winner will receive a £10 voucher to spend on books at the fair. LFPA - Firework Night Extravaganza
The Learning Federation Parents’ Association will be hosting the Harold Hill Firework Extravaganza on Monday​ ​6th November​ ​2017​, 5.30pm-7.30pm​ at Broadford​ ​Primary​ ​School​. Tickets must be purchased in advance and will be sold on a first come first serve basis. Tickets will not be available on the night of the event.
If you haven’t managed to get your tickets yet, you can purchase them at parents evening from the LFPA volunteers who will be selling them in the school hall.
We look forward to seeing many of you on 6th November.


Havering Catering Services
Week beginning 16th October is week 2 on the Havering Catering Services menu. The price of a meal at lunchtime is £2.20.  


Year 6 Parents
The deadline for applying for secondary school places is fast approaching. Please ensure that you have registered an online account and applied for a secondary place before this date. If you require any assistance please come into the office and see Mrs Taylor.
